Sorry, there's no excuse for a dem using the Osama/terror card in the primary.
It's just :puke:worthy. Scaring voters into going for you is the ultimate repuke card. It pre-dates 9/11 but its use is even more reprehensible post 9/11. How many times have we decried the repukes use of the terra, terra, terra card? Seems like a pretty unanimous opinion around DU for years- until Hillary decided that it was a nifty little tactic. Make no mistake, flashing Osama on the screen in an ad with some comment about who's ready to handle such evil, is playing the terra card. And it sucks.

Goddamnit, we deserve better than this.

5. Because, it's not half the issue the repukes have built it up to.
Because running with fear is a lousy thing. Because we seriously need to reframe the debate, and terra, terra, terra is just the same old tired shit.

7. So you think it's A-OK to use the fear card like * has done for 7 years?
Wow. I don't, and think it is puke-worthy. Don't let anyone tell me she hasn't used the GOP playbook. She should be ashamed of herself.

2. I don't remember anyone defending the GOP's use of Osama's image
in campaign ads.

I'd bet good money we'll see DUers defending that BS now, though.

Pathetic.

3. It is a desperate short term Gain ad
She HAS to keep it above 5 or her fundraising will tank. She NEEDS money for Indiana and is willing to take the long term loss to scare a few voters in my view.

4. It's also a smear against Obama, trying to make a connection
between the names and further the idea that somehow he himself is a terrorist. It is a vile right wing smear that is being pushed as a part of this. Hillary plays straight from Rove's playbook. Period.

8. When she does that, she works against the millions of us
attempting to get the truth of the last 7 years to the American people through all the spin and lies. I really really don't like her for she will sacrifice anything including the truth and possibly more lives if McCain gets the benefit of this garbage, for her blind ambition. I don't care what anyone says, most democratic candidates would not do this no matter how much they wanted the nomination (except Lieberman).

18. Found it.
It certainly does use overall fear as a motivator. I would add, though, that it's not all "terra" stuff. At least there are some socio-economic images and voiceovers as well. (Katrina, gas prices, et al)

..it exists.

We can play the ad in their face, using toothpicks to hold their eyelids open, and they'll claim that Hillary is not using Osama bin Laden in her ad.

42. What is FDR doing in a Hillary (DLC) ad?
Hillary and the DLC are working to undo everything FDR.

Would FDR have supported a LAW that forces all Americans to BUY Health Insurance from For Profit
sources?
The DLC (Hillary) is STILL salivating over "privatizing" Social Security.

36. Same purpose for showing a gas pump. There are real issues out there, cali.
She certainly could have left it out but Obama began his whole campaign saying Iraq, dumb war, Afghanistan, good war. Saddam, no threat, bin Laden "terra"ist.

This is a typical ad. If either of them wanted to exploit "terra" we both know exactly what that ad would look like. This isn't it.

Of course I'm derided for it but when you look at Hillary's FP record really closely, it is not that much different than Bush's. I know it's hard to believe, but it's true.
