DUer's for Obama-Where are you at when it comes to holding past and present criminals |
|
accountable, including private entities, when it comes to all the crimes committed by the administration of George Walker Bush, Richard Bruce Cheney et al?
I'm for prosecution to the fullest, and accountability.

This Clinton will NOT clean up for (reads: cover up for) another Bush.
Not this time.

You bet. The Repubs spent millions investigating a BJ. The Dems need to go for EVERY crime that has been committed, every document that has been inappropriately "classified", and every contractor who has ripped off the people.

4. I'm more concerned with preventing such abuses in the future |
|
I'd like to see members of the current administration prosecuted but on the other hand it would become a divisive political sideshow, which the wingnuts would play off as the worst kind of patisan witch hunt. No good crying over spilt milk - better to clean the floor.

8. Which brings up all the "paper" that papered over our Constitution as well |
|
as illegal EO's, signing statements, etc.
The PATRIOT ACT etc. need to be vacated by President Obama's administration too.

you think the Nuremburg trials should just have been skipped? "Water under the bridge; move on?"
I think there is a practical limit to how many of the guilty can be identified and successfully prosecuted, but we cannot just move on. "Preventing such abuses in the future" REQUIRES that there be penalties for the abusers.

I see corruption as a bigger threat to the country than terrorism...corruption is enabling terrorism. Corruption works against governance and is not supported by most people...

It's a big part of why I could never support Clinton - you just know she'd brush the whole thing under the rug.

7. same here. Do it quietly behind the scenes, but make sure it gets done |
|
It will be hard to know where to draw the line though: For instance, once the top tier is locked up, how do we handle people who voted Yes for the IWR? Thousands of soldiers are dead, and hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians have died. They all deserve justice.

These bastards have gotten away with a century of treason, fascism, terrorism, murder, and God knows what else. It's time they get what they deserve. :grr:

11. but is Obama for accountability? Hmm? |
|
I haven't seen any statement of his that would indicate this.
And hope won't issue indictments or reverse the tainting of the Department of Justice.

12. Don't get too excited. |

I doubt that anything will happen that even approaches the frog march to the Hague that so many here desire. Life is not fair and reality is a bitch, but that's what we have. So if you want everybody to pay to the measure they deserve, prepare to be disappointed.

17. I believe in prosecuting all war crimes fully. |

It'd take an army and a half of lawyers for anything more. The exception would be proof of election fraud, which MUST be prosecuted, if it's out there.

1. I want every last of the fucking criminals in jail.
2. Doing that probably will bog down the government, and with what needs to be done, I'm not sure it wise to set aside time for this.*
* I'm basing this on WJC's Impeachment as my frame of reference.
Can a separate committee or something similar be set up? The Dept. of Justice? Something?
