72. They are both scheduled to speak at Raleigh J-J Dinner, May 2nd, which will, no doubt, be televised
I, for one, will not miss the media talking heads trying to score cheap points with both our candidates. Stephanopolous and Gibson made the Republican party's night with their inane tabloid-style "debate."

Or maybe it means he's sick of bullshit "debates" which have nothing to do with issues.
How the fuck does a discussion of Made in China, sold at Wal Mart goddamned useless swastika flag lapel pins get our troops out of Iraq??

How does endless distortion of the cherry picked words of a Chicago minister address the downward toilet spiral of the US economy, brought on by 28 consecutive years of trickle-down voodoo reverse Robin Hood economics?

After tomorrow, there will be no need for any further primary debates regardless. But if there were any, why bother, unless it's a real debate? And the corporate media has no intention of allowing such a thing.

Edited on Mon Apr-21-08 02:12 PM by WesDem
Then it was changed to 4/27 and Clinton agreed to that.

I guess they couldn't get the dates together.

Edit: Sorry, sorry - the original date was April 19 :dunce:

21. Or about whether an honorably discharged Former Marine who has been invited to the WH (Rev. Wright)
LOVES his Country as much as his *darkie brother.* :puke:

Rev. Wright loves his country more than the pseudo journalistic PIGS who covertly play race as a wedge issue.

Someone needs to ask McCain if Rev. Hagee loves his country as much as this Admiral's son who, save for his brave endurance as a POW, has lived in the lap of luxury.

33. Baloney. I think Howard Dean is calling this. Jerry Meeks, our Dem Party chair,
came out of nowhere to take control of the Dem party (without support of the Big Boys in the State, like
the Governor and Edwards when he was still Senator)after 2004. Meeks was a huge Dean supporter.

I'd bet big bucks that Dean is behind this.

30. Here's the story:
No Presidential Debate for N.C.
WRAL Election 2008 logo

Posted: 7 minutes ago

Raleigh, N.C. — A proposed debate in Raleigh between Democratic presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton has been called off, officials said Monday.

CBS had agreed to host a debate next Sunday at the RBC Center and televise the event nationally. Clinton agreed to the date, but Obama, who had earlier committed to an April 19 debate, said repeatedly he wasn't sure whether he could fit an April 27 debate into his campaign schedule.

The North Carolina Democratic Party said in a statement Monday that the logistics of staging a national event on short notice, if Obama were to agree to the debate this week, were too daunting to try to pull everything together. Democratic officials also said there were "growing concerns about what another debate would do to party unity."

Clinton and Obama have agreed to attend the state's annual Jefferson-Jackson Dinner on May 2 in Raleigh.

The dinner will be four days before North Carolina's May 6 primary, which is seen as critical in the tight race for the Democratic nomination.

Southerners don't tend to like IN YOUR FACE nastiness like that last POS debate.
There are some exceptions, of course, like Lee Atwater and his ilk. For the most part,
we like honor and integrity and civilized discourse, not tabloid trash.

49. No surprise here
After the last "debate" I'm not surprised this one was cancelled. After 20 debates there is nothing substantive left to learn about either candidate. The 21st debate was proof of that fact. Rather than giving TV personalities a chance to tee off on either candidate in the hopes of making more of a name for themselves it would be time better spent for the candidates to meet with the people of NC.
