Prediction: Tuesday Night We Will Hear Accusations of Racism and "E-Vote Fraud"
Recall how after New Hampshire's Democratic primary, the historic first major party presidential primary victory for a woman in US history (Jesse Jackson had already achieved that for an African-American 20 years ago so Iowa was not a milestone), the press issued cries of both "E-Vote fraud" and "racism" to make Clinton's win seem illegitimate. That night at DU the fire's was fanned by Tribune Media Co. reporter Koehler who swore that an opinion piece he has written in which he speculated without proof that the e-vote in New Hampshire had been hacked would be in Tribune papers the next day. It was not in Tribune papers the next day. However, the rumors persisted, even after analysis of the results showed that Clinton's win came from a surge of women voting on the issue of reproductive rights---an understandable phenomenon in an Irish-Catholic state where women trust women politicians not to sell out women's reproductive issues.

Now, I have noticed two peculiar things at DU. One, there is a latest breaking news on the front page that reports the results of a polling firm that I have never heard of that gives a singular result---Obama leads in Pennsylvania. That has certainly raised hopes even as it has raised eyebrows.

Two, there is another post which raises the issue of e-voting, as in reminding people at DU that Pennsylvania, like many states, has e-voting. (For the record, so does South Carolina. Does that mean that their primary result was tainted? )

Put these two posts together and what I expect we will see tomorrow night is a replay of New Hampshire, a Divide and Conquer extravaganza designed to warm the hearts of every RNC oppo at work on undermining the Democratics' hopes for victory this fall.

All it will take is another malicious MSNBC exit poll question that asks "Did you consider race?" (without asking the corollary "Did you consider gender?" or the other corollary "Why did you consider gender?" I.e. pragmatic considerations or personal prejudice.) and we will be at each others' throats again.

One camp will exclaim "Fraudulent win!"

The other camp will cry out "You always invalidate our victories!"

This has got to stop. The circular firing squad is no longer funny. When we shoot each other, we are killing bystanders who are waiting behind us, hoping for some relief from eight years of Bush tyranny.

Christians clash at Jesus' tomb on Orthodox Palm Sunday

JERUSALEM - Dozens of Greek and Armenian priests and worshippers exchanged blows at one of Christianity's holiest shrines on Orthodox Palm Sunday, and used palm fronds to pummel police who tried to break up the brawl.

The fight came amid growing rivalry over religious rights at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, built over the site in Jerusalem where tradition says Jesus was buried and resurrected.

It erupted when Armenian clergy kicked out a Greek priest from their midst, pushed him to the ground and kicked him, according to witnesses.

When police intervened, some worshippers hit them with the palm fronds they were holding for the religious holiday. The Eastern Orthodox churches, including the Armenians and Greek Orthodox, follow a different calendar from Western Christians and celebrate Easter next Sunday.

Sounds pretty stupid, right? I know I got a hearty belly laugh out of this one. So did my husband and son. Well, we don't look much better.

1. There could well be fraud
and since there are no accountability mechanisms in place- and American polling outfits have no integrity or credibility, one can reasonably speculate all sorts of things.

Bottom line is that many states practice Banana Republic "democracy."

And Americans by and large don't care.

2. Yes, but I am not taling about reasonable speculation. What happened after New Hampshire was not
"reasonable speculation". I remember that night clearly. It was an electronic riot. That was why I wrote a journal about it as it was happening--because I did not believe Koehler when he said that his opinion piece was going to make the Tribune Papers the next day. Sam Zell is a Republican and Republicans are counting on e-voting to steal this fall's election.
