I just heard an interesting stat: 47% of people don't know Kerry is a veteran. Kind of makes you think any poll involving Kerry is pretty worthless. The polls that mean something now are the ones about Bush.

It supports what I have long believed, that the horse race numbers are far less important than Bush's approval numbers because most voters don't know a damn thing about Kerry.

They will soon enough.

I forgot where, but a Bush surrogate brought out the old "Bush is having a bad year, Kerry should be WAY ahead." Then the Kerry person said no one knows Kerry yet.

What percent do you think knows Kerry wrote a freaking BOOK on terrorism? Has Bush even read a book on terrorism?

And anything positive or even remotely multilateral that Bush is doing now (reluctantly, under pressure, and far too late) has been advocated by Kerry for well over a year.

Historically, any incumbent President since 1948 who was below 50% favorably at any time during the election year , was defeated.

The election with a sitting President is decided as a referendum on the incumbent. In 1980, Carter's approval ratings were similar to Bush's at this point in time. Yet, Carter was still slightly ahead of Reagan.

No way Carter could get back those who disapproved of his performance then, and there's less of a chance that this piece of shit in the White House can regain the confidence of the American voter this year.

Expect a Kerry landslide.
