Does Hillary propose killing every man, woman and child in Iran?
in her "completely obliterate" scenario? Even a Republican like Teddy Roosevelt had the good sense to SPEAK SOFTLY and carry a big stick. No major world leader today EVER makes statements like she did- not even George W. Bush. She's so insecure and anxious to prove her toughness that she votes to start ridiculous wars and follows that up with bellicose statements. Or maybe she just truly likes using the military, just like she enjoys using her dirty trick squads in her campaign.

Either way, it's sad that the DEMOCRATIC party is having such a hard time deciding between a true Democrat and this wannabe Republican, at least on matters of foreign policy.

1. Kyl-Lieberman vote + her comment in debate + this
If people are paying attention, I don't know how they can vote for her.

If people want a war hawk, they'll vote McCain over her anyway.

It is the cornerstone of her foreign policy. Plus every dog, donkey, cockroach and foreign emissary.
'tis the only way to conduct foreign policy. AMERICAN policy.

Obama would bomb them with unity and love. How does that help anyone?

Love-bombs are less effective at killing people,

though they are an excellent force multiplier in mixed-gender units.

Destined to wear the jeweled crown of Persia upon a troubled brow.

Clintons, in our beautiful country!
I've chafed for years at these demi-gods.

Clintonites follow her like a slave,
Seeking the truth of their soul.
As if OBAMA could not give it to them!

You alone have stood up to her minions.
And what ARE you? Bloggers!

and she didn't even SOUND or APPEAR as if it bothered her that she had just stated she would wipe an entire country filled with women and children OFF THE MAP. She makes me sick.

Can you see the Repugs painting her as some sort of novice, trigger happy, unstable, menopausal woman who CAN'T be trusted, and shouldn't be trusted with that red phone? I sure can. They are laughing their asses off and they have nothing to laugh about with their silly, hawkish ways. Hillary is just a continuation of this disastorous foreign policy we have. I can't help but wonder whether a deal was made between the Clintons and Bushes. McCain is just a sacrificial lamb. But first, she needs to get past Obama, and they have been trying their hardest to do it.

27. Obama said he might unilaterally attack Pakistan, and then
the Pakistanis burned him in effigy. Speak softly, indeed!

"Top Pakistani officials said Obama's comment was irresponsible and had probably been made for political reasons related to his race for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination.

"It's a very irresponsible statement, that's all I can say," Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri said. "As the election campaign in America is heating up, we would not like American candidates to fight their elections and contest elections at our expense."

34. Do the Iranian Mullahs understand nuance?
Edited on Mon Apr-21-08 10:36 PM by depakid
Do their leaders realize the consequences of letting the nuclear genie out of the bottle?

Hard to know, given their often over the top rhetoric and the amount of ignorance and misunderstanding on our part of present day Iran.

Frankly, I prefer statements like:

"An (Iranian) attack on Israel is an attack on our strongest ally in the region, one whose security we consider paramount.

"That would be an act of aggression that I would consider unacceptable and the United States would take appropriate action."

My guess is that most cognoscenti recognize that it's just another way of saying the same thing (though maybe not the most effective way to direct comments toward the intended audience).

That one's very arguable.

Yet the policies on the Democratic side, in the event of the hypothetical situation are largely the same. Each and both do differ from what you'd expect (and have seen) from the Republicans over the past 25 years.

People who don't think so have some homework to do.

49. Their chief mullah of the moment has declared nuclear weapons "unislamic"
Of course, that doesn't mean that the actual leadership would necessarily obey him

http://www.encarta.es/encyclopedia_761584225/Khamenei_Seyed_Ali.html

In 2004 Khamenei delivered a fatwa (religious edict) regarding the use of nuclear weapons, saying that they were “un-Islamic.” In a subsequent sermon, Khamenei elaborated on this position, declaring that “developing, producing, or stockpiling nuclear weapons is forbidden under Islam.”
