Obama chickens out of North Carolina debate.
Edited on Mon Apr-21-08 10:28 PM by anamnua
He obviously does not want a repeat of the last time when his ass was handed to him by Hillary.
Please spare the BS 'it was not him it was the organisers..'. They obviously acted in concert to protect The Chosen One.
I can just hear Hill's stump speech:
If he can't face me in debate how can he face a republican? If he can't stand up to me how can he stand up to Bin Laden, Ahmadinejad, Medvedev etc.? If he is not fit to face me he is not fit to lead America...

93. Bill Press was talking about a Obama/Clinton ticket
Edited on Tue Apr-22-08 07:52 AM by mac2
or a Clinton/Obama ticket. Dear god don't say it's true!

This primary which has us all bored to tears was just a smoke screen for Bush's Americas (Fascist) Union and "unending war" after all.

We don't even have our Habeas Corpus back...nor our rights...nor our troops home. Nancy Pelosi can't hand Bush enough money for his killing and death in so many countries.

Do you worry about Olbermann running out of material with a change in administration?

"Don't worry, he told NPR. "I don't care if you're a Democrat or a Republican. This isn't right -- you're not doing what you said you were going to do. You have not restored habeas corpus fully. We're still in Gitmo. We're still in Iraq. We're not out fast enough. These are still going to be issues. They don't go away with George Bush." Keith Olbermann:

What about impeachment Congress? President Bush's approval numbers are in the tank so you ignore the people? He and Cheney have robbed us and put us in debt. That is just a start to their "misdemeanors and high crimes".

not give reasoned answers to inane questions. how dare he not give that woman anymore air time to tell us how she will nuke children.

Said Clinton on Good Morning America, "I want the Iranians to know that if I'm the president, we will attack Iran. In the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them."

64. And the campaign responds.
An Obama campaign spokesman, Bill Burton, replied: “It’s unfortunate that the Clinton campaign decided to play politics with this — especially considering that Senator Obama agreed to a North Carolina debate long before Senator Clinton did, and their campaign took three weeks to consider and ultimately reject that proposal.”

108. Simple math confuse you?
In terms of pledged delegates...

OBAMA > HRC

In terms of total delegates (pledged + declared Superdelegates)

OBAMA > HRC

In terms of total popular votes in the primaries to date ...

OBAMA > HRC

And there are not enough states remaining for HRC to overtake Senator Obama on 1 or 3. Her only hope is to convince enough superdelegates to ignore the will of the people and give HRC the nomination, which would guarantee a defeat of EPIC proportions for the party in November (Senate & House might be lost as well).

I can see why you HRC supporters are all excited about your chances ... :eyes:

Hillary has always performed better than BO, with substantive answers delivered with poise, lucidity and grace, even humour.

None of that copycat 'I agree with Hillary' BS, then rambling on for wasted minutes rehashing what Hillary just said.

70. the taunt comes across as castrating, something Clinton supporters might want to avoid
calling a man a wimp is just an effort to try to denigrate his masculinity,
and if that isn't sexist, then nothing is.

Its also what children do when trying to bully someone.

27. Upset
that your candidate won't get any more free press coverage from the corporate right wing whore media?

Or just angry because you know its over on May 6?

Obama is denying her free exposure. She is at least $10 million in debt. She has no other way to campaign if she can't get free tv time or can't buy any more Rovian campaign ads. Her campaign is nothing more than a Kamikaze mission at this point.

Its obvious after 20 debates there is nothing more to talk about. We are reduced to flag-pins and other trival gotcha questions.

Its over May 6.

62. which is why she agreed to sit down with Keith tonight....
I'm convinced that she never would have done his show if she weren't broke. Why didn't she buy another hour on Hallmark? Broke. And the Clintonistas should banish the notion that Hillary's in any position to make demands on the nominee's time. She has lost in every possible measurement when it comes to viability in this campaign.

A candidate with lesser name recognition, would have been forced out after Super Tues. And according to an article posted here earlier today, it was the NC Democratic Party that put the kibosh on the upcoming debate, because they feel it would only serve to further divide the party.

Yawn! 1 hour of Ayers/Bittergate/Bosnia flights?

I would care more if we had a debate that was on something a bit more relevant like perhaps the war, the economy, the mortgage mess, and health care. Or, what about Rezko or Marc Rich is you want to go negative.

I was actually looking forward to that debate, but that was just a waste of time.

Obama avoids media in final days of PA
Posted: 04:44 PM ET

BLUE BELL, Pennsylvania (CNN) – It's now been ten days since Democrat Barack Obama has made himself available for questions from his traveling press corps, and it appears as though that number could rise even higher.

Aides have said it's unlikely he’ll hold an availability with reporters before Tuesday's Pennsylvania primary, but that they "could always add one." Given their track record over the past few days, however, that doesn't sound promising.

Since the start of the weekend, the possibility of a press conference has been dangled in front of reporters twice—only to be snatched away at the last possible moment.

On Saturday, reporters were teased for the majority of the day with a possible evening avail, only to be told at the eleventh hour that it would not be happening. To make it up, staffers said they were aiming to put him in front of cameras on Sunday but that, too, did not happen.

Reporters hate that shit.

and thereby shows she truly shares his arguments for inclusion in such a thing, the Obama would follow up with a debate against her.

Maybe the one who wins the debate can debate Obama.

Otherwise, why should he debate anyone when he has already seized the nomination by all realistic measure?

83. she declined a NC debate a long time ago. she's pathetic and desperate.
She's too broke to buy any more airtime, so NOW she wants another "debate." As IF that will somehow magically change the course she herself set out a long time ago--a race to the bottom.

Why should Obama waste his time with her? She's already shown in the last debate that she just wants to engage in gutter politics and is not interested in the issues. He has bigger fish to fry--his REAL opponent. Another debate with her would be like going on to play the 4th and 5th games after you've agreed that 3 out of 5 is the winner. Why bother?

I used to feel sort of sorry for her, because she was embarrassing herself so much. But now it makes me feel gleeful to see her slow-motion train wreck, which has almost run its course. Karma, baby, karma!

But Hillary is short on cash and is in position to be eliminated. There is no reason to afford her the courtesy of free airtime considering her campaign's disposition toward Obama. Why give her a means to continue? If it's to be a war of attrition then so be it. Obama has almost limitless cash. Bitch move or not, it's the smart thing to do.

95. Everytime I read posts like this, and responses like schoolyard bullies
It sends me into a cold sweat. Why you might ask, because it causes me to think McSame will be the next president.

All of you on both side acting like you've reverted to childhood, and feel the need to toss taunts back and forth are only working to sink the whole friggen ship. If McSame becomes president remember these moments, if McSame becomes president remember the division and the hate you felt for another Democrat, and know you had a hand in it if you allowed that to make you stay home on election day. For you effectively voted for McSame yourself by doing so.

And this goes for both sides, you better get over yourselves or we get something possibly worse than Bush, or something no better.

How about the issues such as the war, the debt, impeachment, the Americas Union ploy, unemployment, food shortages, better govenment, new tax structure, health care for all, removal of NAFTA since it is killing our economy and freedoms (replaces our laws and borders), etc.?

They are talking about a new administration and election when they did nothing about the last one in 2006. Why not?

in answering the direct hit questions from the press he can't do it. He always flubs it up somehow and then he has to retract or tell us that's not what he said. He'll fall apart in the GE against the Republican machine or serious debates unless he continues to hone his skills now rather than run from them.

when will we realize that this intense bashing of the candidates is only bashing the democratic party. one of them will be winning, the more we support the fighting, the weaker either candidate will be by the time s/he faces up to mccain. its a grand thing (unless you are the tv station that was supposed to host the debate or of the mccain camp) that the north carolina debate has been canceled. hopefully democrats can recognize they are being divided BEFORE they get conquered by the republicans!

How about all the debates where Hillary got pummeled by the moderators and everyone else who was on stage with her???

This guy always acts like no one has a right to question him on anything. Well, like it or not, people DO want to know about things like the flag pin issue, Rev. Wright, Rezko, "bittergate" and now Ayres. If any of you went around PA, you would have heard enough people bringing up any of these subjects, including people wondering whether he is a Muslim. To the average folk who don't pay that much attention to politics, these things resonate more than policy issues.
