because india got nukes, which got nukes because china got them, and so on. If Iran gets nukes, the arab gulf states will aquire them too, which is why its important to handle this diplomatically. As in quietly acknowledging , yes, its not fair israel has nukes and you dont, but the more countries have nukes, the less safe we all are. Which is why the UN, which was created with the purpose of guaranteeing the sovereignty of current borders, is so important, and why bush did so much harm to it.

I doubt it will be Obama or Clinton but when we start promising to "Obliterate" an entire country to defend an ally that is perfectly capable of doing it themselves then something is seriously wrong. Obliterating Iran will turn Russia and China against us immediately and I guarantee that's a fight we can't win. The world can't win.

israel would obliterate iran, guaranteed. In which case, there'd be nuclear fallout from 50-100 nukes going off in so small an area, and so the whole middle east would be fucked up.
