Networks used to give results of exit polling early, but no longer do. And depending on how much exit polling they're doing in Pennsylvania, they may need to wait until some results are actually in before predicting anything themselves.
At the corporate level, I suspect the networks have a real vested interest in this battle between Obama and Clinton going on at least until the Convention. Certainly, they have an interest in making the outcome of this primary suspenseful, and keep us all tuned to CNN or ABC or whichever network by not predicting a winner too early. At least that's my take. I also know the networks each consider it important to be the first to call a winner, as if the viewers care only which network does that. I don't know about the rest of you, but I generally stick to whichever is my current favorite network (it changes over the years), with occasional channel-surfing to see what the others are saying.
