New 4/22 USA Today/Gallup Poll
It has Obama up by 10 nationally... (This is not the same poll as the Gallup Daily Tracking Poll)

But here is the strange part.

Clinton vs. McCain - Clinton 50, McCain 44 Clinton +6
B Obama vs. McCain - B Obama 47, McCain 44 B Obama +3

Seems like Clinton is the surer bet. And crossing the 50% threshold is impressive...

2. No it doesn't seem like Clinton is the surer bet. It's one poll
for every poll which you might find which finds her ahead there are just as many which show Obama ahead.

3. According to this poll...Clinton is the surer bet.
I wasn't talking about other polls. I was talking about the one I posted.

Thanks!

13. That means that the margin of error is bigger.
That means that the poll is showing that they are tied.

23. The margin of error is +/- 3.
So yes...Clinton & McCain might be tied and McCain might be beating Obama by 3.

Edited on Tue Apr-22-08 10:18 AM by high density
And our president was chosen by the USA Today/Gallup poll

But it's not November and Gallup doesn't decide our election. So "surer bet" makes no damn sense.

almost 7 months before the election?

When Obama was 3 points stronger than Clinton I didn't take that seriously

7. of course it is. Obama has been many times stronger in GE polls than Clinton
and we can't just jump at conclusions that she is the stronger candidate especially when nationally it looks like Obama has a stronger lead among Democrats and has demonstrated in the primaries a stronger attraction among indpendents.

20. To look a little deeper...
6% undecided in Hillary vs McCain? 10% undecided in Obama vs McCain. What part of the 6% would Hillary receive and what part of the 10% would Obama receive. If they are "independents", I would say they may go for McCain against Hillary and they may go for Obama against McCain. Confusing?
