And why did the delegate ballot tell me to vote for 2 males and 2 females.
Why doesn't it say 2 Chinese and 2 non-Chinese, or 2 straights and 2 gays, or ... WTF?

2. Probably because

the Democrats will send a gender-balanced delegation to the DNC, and will also try to send an ethnically and otherwise (GBLT, handicapped, Latino, Native American, etc.) balanced delegation. Probably not all the delegates will be selected today, despite all the hype.

Familiarize yourself with how your state does its delegate selection. It can be quite enlightening.

3. Yeah, I thought the male/female thing was a little odd myself...

We also had a Repub hanging around outside my polling place this morning. He wasn't doing much business. While I was voting, I heard the poll workers saying that they finally had their first Republican...he was number 33 or so.

5. All the State and County Democratic Organizations that I have

been a member of select a balance group of precinct captains, delegates, etc. Even the county chairs will be of one gender and the vice-chair of another....must achieve equality.

we are in redneck country, so it could be good for Sen. Obama. We will see.
