BIG SURPRISE: Voting Machines Breaking Down in Philly in African American Districts
Edited on Tue Apr-22-08 10:40 AM by Skwmom
This is pretty sad. Paper ballots had better be provided or I think the Democrats can kiss goodbye their solid African American base.

Edit: This was just reported on MSNBC. I believe they said some polling places were left with only 1 or 2 working machines. This is the same kind of crap that happened in Florida in 2000.

Shame on you PA Democratic Party - Shame on you.

Edited on Tue Apr-22-08 01:59 PM by Skwmom
I guess she knew what she was talking about when she says pledge delegates could change their vote.

Reminds me of how they BLAMED THE VOTERS in Florida.

He also says he was just up in court with the Obama campaign and this wasn't an issue. So obviously this is a Clinton guy.

It sounds plausible
I think Rendell is hoping to score a nice spot in a Clinton administration, and from the comments I've read from him, I would not put this sort of thing past him.

But innocent until proven guilty. For now, I'm hoping they get these things fixed and get all the votes in.

26. This is CHEATING. It can be nothing else.
I'll say it again.

CHEATING.

Why would this only happen in certain districts? Why do the machines seem to discriminate based on race?

Because they were programmed to.

These malfunctions happen by design.

And these malfunctions are designed to do one thing: distract.

Randi Rhodes said it best. In chaos, you can steal.

And when everyone's screaming about malfunctions, you can bet that silently, undetecatbly, some asshole's fucking with the count.

Fuck you, Hillary, and all the lying cheating shills that surround her.

33. Everybody knows Rendell and Nutter are creating these voter problems in Philly
That is why it was SO important to have Nutter on their side.

Just think about it. The Secretary of State is a Rendell appointee. Problems with the voting machines were known since December of 2007 when he had to decertify machines in 3 counties.

All of the commissioners are Rendell/Cortes proxies. Obama doesn't have the Pennsylvania machine behind him. OF COURSE THERE ARE PROBLEMS IN BLACK PRECINCTS.

They knew that Philly would go to Obama and that is where the chaos will be centered TONIGHT.

50. Now the MSNBC talking heads are blaming the "stupid" voters.
The new voters don't know what's required of them (to bring their voter reg and I.D.). He reported that the PA SOS said that only the typical, normal problems are occurring. I guess voter suppression is kind of normal for U.S. elections (but it's a REALLY SAD DAY when it happens in a Democratic primary).

62. Theresa LaPore, head of elections for Palm Beach County, Florida,
who was a Republican, Independent, then Democrat (to win election) designed the butterfly ballot and then had the nerve to blame the voters. That ballot was intended to mislead b/c prior to that I voted in Palm Beach County for years on the punch cards and had no problem. I looked at a copy of he ballot used and I, an experienced educated voter, would have voted incorrectly.

65. I've been putting up at least one daily Election News thread here
for a long time. That means, I scan a lot of news items in order to choose the ones that are most important for that day.

Blaming the voters is as common as blaming women for rape, I kid you not.

And remember after 2004, a commission was formed to overhaul our voting practices? It degenerated into a "voter fraud" commission rather than an "election reform" one. We have only a minuscule problem with voter fraud. It was a big joke.

68. Biggest joke. Bush and Harris pushing touchscreens after the 2000
election and the Democrats in Palm Beach County approving it. That should have been a big red flag that something was wrong, that and the MIT report which said that touchscreens were more unreliable and subject to fraud then punch card machines.

55. In any large county, there is bound to be machine malfunction.
That is just the nature of the beast. There are more machines in Philadelphia than there are in suburban counties like, say, Elk County. Thus, there is more possibility of voting machine malfunction. It is practically unavoidable. Machines are not perfect.

Let's wait for more reports before we start crying foul, shall we?

69. If we can't handle democracy maybe we should go back to a monarchy.
I'm not kidding. I mean we could just swear allegiance to the British royal family. They're not bad. Prince Charles seems pretty liberal. I'm sure he'd make an excellent absolute monarch.

75. How many machines are there in the city of 1.5 million?
Please. Of course some will break down. If there is a proven pattern that is something else.

76. Same crap as Ohio in 2004.
Break the machines, remove the machines, pilfer the machines.

Paper or vapor. Get rid of the machines or democracy is over.

77. Of course. It never fails. I don't know why I continue
to support this party, when stuff like this is allowed to continue--year after year.

NOT! where are the assholes from the companies that MADE them? Shouldn't they be on
hand with extra machines "just in case"?

What a bunch of shit. ALWAYS in the minority precincts too. :puke:
