Hillary DID NOT say she will attack and obliterate Iran
Edited on Tue Apr-22-08 01:09 PM by Cali_Democrat
with conventional weapons. A Hillary campaign official on Faux News today confirmed she will attack and obliterate Iran with nuclear weapons. Thanks for clearing that up, Hillary.

The BBC are giving her more coverage than they usually give to Bush missteps.

5. Well, there goes another Hillary excuse; "Oh, she only meant she'd take out Iran's military."
No, it's pretty clear she has just, out of the blue, threatened genocide.

All this talk about genocide in Iraq when Hillary threatens to murder 71 million people in Iran. She apparently has no reservations about wiping out an entire people.

6. What exactly did she say? Uh, if Iran nukes Israel, she will nuke Iran? That it?
"Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton confirmed Monday that as president she would be willing to use nuclear weapons against Iran if it were to launch a nuclear attack on Israel.

8. Yes. She claimed that if Iran were to use its nonexistent nuclear weapons
in a totally-unprovoked, utterly-insane attack on Israel, then she would oversee a reciprocal genocide.

That's the kind of cool, level-headed dialogue I like to see from my Democratic candidates.

13. Even our *own* intelligence community
(which has, historically, been the world's most paranoid when it comes to the extent of WMD possession and production of hostile nations) has declared that Iran does not possess nuclear weapons, has halted its nuclear program, and is at best years away from producing its first bomb.

Said Clinton on Good Morning America, "I want the Iranians to know that if I'm the president, we will attack Iran. In the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them."

she voted for Iraq and she voted for Iran and won't admit she was wrong. she'd drop nukes and feel god was on her side. No wonder the world hates and fears us.

21. i prefer to cite her direct quote:
Edited on Tue Apr-22-08 01:00 PM by beezlebum
"I want the Iranians to know that if I'm the president, we will attack Iran (if it attacks Israel)," Clinton said in an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America."

"In the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them," she said.

"That's a terrible thing to say but those people who run Iran need to understand that because that perhaps will deter them from doing something that would be reckless, foolish and tragic," Clinton said.

i love how that article gives her context where she doesn't deserve it buy adding the "(if Iran attacks Israel.)" Even WITH the context, however, it is nothing short of reich wing hawkery. no amount of obfuscation and "clarification" and claiming mispeaking will get her out of this one, at least not for me.

AS IF "those people in Iran" aren't already clear on the severe consequences if ANY country launches a nuke, and AS IF Iran has such plans. as for your next reply- something about how the world has no idea how far iran is on nuke production- well do you know how far the US is on nuke production? do you really know? or any other country around the world. and when was the last time iran attacked anyone? and when was the last time the us PREEMPTIVELY attacked anyone? Israel? can we say clusterbombs?

30. Uh, you left something out.....
"Clinton on an Iran Attack: 'Obliterate Them'

Clinton further displayed tough talk in an interview airing on "Good Morning America" Tuesday. ABC News' Chris Cuomo asked Clinton what she would do if Iran attacked Israel with nuclear weapons.

"I want the Iranians to know that if I'm the president, we will attack Iran," Clinton said. "In the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them."

Watch the full interview with Sen. Hillary Clinton on "GMA" Tuesday."

i didn't leave that out- i quoted the article you posted, AND i noted that that particular article gave her that very context in parentheses (that this will happen if iran attacks israel), which i dismissed, for reasons i then elaborated on.

34. What are you gonna feed the horse?
It takes petroleum to run a farm -- and it takes petroleum to make the fertilizer that is needed to grow the crops.

And most of our fertilizer is made outside the US. If a foreign source cuts off our fertilizer, we are so screwed. The corporate farms have been so overfarmed that they can't function without massive amounts of fertilizer.

25. In all fairness, Obama said pretty much the same thing in the debate.
He said if Iran attacked Israel, he would retaliate and all options would be on the table. That is codespeak for retaining the right to use a nuclear option in retaliation.

There are miles and miles of difference between saying 'all options are on the table' and 'We will obliterate you.'

Why are these words being parsed? If a Republican said those words, people here would be going nuts, and with damned good reason.

It would lead to obliteration.

But, in the heat of a campaign, candidates may botch up the phrasing of what they actually mean to say. So, another week or so of obliterate-gate will just about even out the phony 'bitter' outrage we've gone through. Hillary's misstatement is a brazilion times worse.
