The Official Obama Supporters Thank You Post
Edited on Tue Apr-22-08 01:33 PM by Tatiana

I just feel the need to thank all of the very special DUers in Pennsylvania like Jim, Yael, Kristi, Jake and others (feel free to chime in if you are a PA Obama supporter) for their hard work in this Democratic primary. Obama faced insurmountable odds and polled 20+ points behind Clinton a mere 6-8 weeks ago.

Yet, like our candidate, you didn't let those disappointing poll numbers deter you from registering voters, from going door to door and spreading the message of change. You kept going in the wake of manufactured controversy, mangled words, and a "gotcha" hit job debate. You rolled up your sleeves when Ed Rendell said voters in his state wouldn't vote for a black man. You never wavered in your support of changing the way we conduct our politics and making government more responsive to the needs of its people.

You have been an inspiration to Pennsylvania voters and Obama supporters across this country, including myself.

"YES WE CAN!" isn't just a catchy slogan. It's an urgent call not to give up, even in the face of overwhelming opposition.

So, thank you. We are who we've been waiting for and you've proved it. No matter what today's result is, you are winners.

Inauguration day, let's all get together under that big tent and celebrate.

:toast:

You tend to divide us with your comments and high fives. It is not a unifying thing to do.

21. You can't seem
to allow Democrats to show appreciation for the efforts and the activism on the ground in PA, on behalf of the candidate we have chosen to support. Why? You are consistently derisive, dismissive, condescending and arrogant in your attacks on all things Obama. Why? Disruptor?

31. you must be suffering from chronic reading comprehension deficiency.
I unlike you have sought out and congratulated any personal DU stories whether they are Obama or Clinton.

Obama will be very successful in uniting the party after the campaign for the nomination ends.

There will be a very small number of diehard disruptors like you that will no longer be welcome and you will be invited to leave. By having entrenched bitter resentful people like you go your own way we will be able to attract tens of millions of people that have stayed out of the political system because of people like you and your candidate.

Enjoy the few days you have left before the 'presumptive nominee rule' is enacted. And by all means go immediately to HillaryClinton.com and donate all of your savings to this lost cause.

47. "You will need the unwanted in the fall"
I have reread the original post, and i have to ask- where are you getting the idea of being unwanted. The post thanked people who worked for Obama. It did not say "Thank you, and all you Clinton supporters can f@$k off". Their was not one bad thing said about Clinton or her supporters anywhere in the post- unless you consider the fact that Obama was way behind in the polls and somehow bridged the gap as being insulting.

But nothing would feel better than a win here, after nearly 2 months of hype. Either way, I know that at the end of this day, the REAL numbers (i.e. the delegates) are going to speak the reality that some will be able to ignore no longer.

Thanks to all of the "ground troops" in PA! :bounce: :toast:

54. Did hope die on 911, along with courage?
Does Hilary Clinton's win prove that more people would rather embrace a message of doom and gloom( her 911 ad) rather than a message of hope. We've been beaten over the head with fear for the last seven years, it's the only thing we know. Bush and his corrupt administration have used fear to win the election in 2004. Used fear to spy and wiretap, used fear to make people turn their heads while human beings are being tortured. It seems they are also using fear as a way to attack Iran.

Remember we were told if Kerry wins, we are sure to be attacked again...sound familiar.. Hilary hinted at the same thing a few months ago , she said if Obama won the terrorists would "test him." Does that mean if she won, the terrorists would join the knitting club and toss their weapons aside?

It's amazing to me that this country is going to swallow the same old hook again. America is no longer the "home of the brave." Everyone is so afraid and paranoid... We're hearing things like:

* Is Obama a secret Muslim?
* What about a guy that he served on a board with, who committed a crime when Obama was 8 years old. Could they be plotting together to blow up another toilet?
* How come he doesn't wear a flag pin, maybe he hates America.

This is the bull$hit that has been scooped up and placed on the plates of the media and they are gladly serving it to the public. My ten year old laughed when she heard the woman ask him about the flag pin. She said "Mom, if he didn't love his country why would he run for president?"

There are very few brave people left in this country, how many times have we heard "we want someone to keep us safe"... What are we children? I don't want someone to keep me safe, I have a family for that. I want someone:

* To tell me the truth, and not what I want to hear, but what I need to hear.
* Someone who will make the right choices at the right time, not someone who will do the easy thing and vote for a war that should have never be waged.
* Not Someone who has voted to label another country's military as a terrorist organization, basically handing the keys to the gate to the warmongering republicans, so that they can invade the country.
* I want someone who has good judgment, not necessarily years of experience.

There were other Democrats and a few Republicans right after 911 who had the guts to vote against the war, neither Hilary or McCain were one of them. She basically said that she thought Bush would use force as a last option..if that's true and he lied to her. Why in the hell would she vote for the Kyle/Lieberman bill to label the Iranian army as terrorist?

Bush said he would go after terrorist anywhere in the world. No matter what the outcome of this primary Mr. Obama, can be proud of himself, he carried himself like a gentlemen and he stayed on the moral high ground. Hilary Clinton and her supporters can not say the same.

My daughter told me, It's too bad Hilary isn't a good perosn, because she would have been the first female president. Obama is fighting Hilary, the republicans and all the right wing parrots and he is still more than likely going to win...in more ways than one.

The next time to hear someone say he hasn't been "vetted"..Ask them what elementary school did Hilary and McCain attend? The brave people in this country are the people who not only want change , but are willing to roll up their sleeves to work for it. They are willing to wander off the same old path and try something new.

Closing the gap from a 25-point win to a 10-point win in just a few weeks is quite an accomplishment.

We know she has fallen deeply in debt, and I don't think she will be able to garner much additional financial support with these numbers.

58. Great job PA Obama supporters.
I know today must be a hard day for you. All that hard work without the big "win" or upset. But even in this "loss", we've made headway.

Your hard work and devotion have paid off. You made up 12 points in the polls in a relatively short period of time all while dodging shit being thrown at you from the gutter.

By making it as close as you did, you narrowed Hillary's math argument to a tightrope walk. You have laid a more solid foundation for Indiana and North Carolina. You have strengthened our argument to Superdelegates. And we are all in your debt.

Go home. Rest up. Recharge. You have earned it.

Peace.

59. Tatiana, I appreciate that!
I didn't get to see much of election day, as I was holed up in our "central command" all day, organizing our army of volunteers.

I'll write a more detailed post about my experiences, but for now, suffice it to say that at the University of Pennsylvania Barack received 72% of the vote with record turnout. This at a University that Hillary visited 3 times and Bill and Chelsea both visited twice, to Barack's zero.

That was the work of our volunteers.

It's impossible to be anything but proud of that.
