In the ABC "debate," Hillary admitted she "has a lot of baggage." The Clinton spin is that nobody is going to care about her baggage, that everyone knows about it and the GOP isn't going to bother going there. Wrong! In the first place, not everyone knows about the extent of her baggage. I would say the majority of Americans don't know the extent of her baggage. Let's face it, Americans aren't too keen when it comes to staying in tune to such things. Just look at how many crimes the American people have given Bush a free ride on. A sizable amount of Americans STILL think Saddam Hussein was involved in 9/11!
From Whitewater to Sniper-gate, the GOP has a ton of ammunition to use against Hillary, and they will use it! If anyone thinks Americans are just going to say that's 'old news' is fooling themselves. Most Americans aren't political junkies like we are. Most Americans don't know the details of Filegate, Travelgate, Billing-gate, Cattlegate, Whitewater, and Castle Grande. The GOP will remind them and spin it in the most negative manner possible. You think Marc Rich is old news? Think again! What about the Lincoln Bedroom scandal? The GOP is not going hesitate a second to remind American's of the Clinton's many, many...let's just say "shortcomings!"
People like Jorge Cabrera, Vivian Mannerud Verble, Ng Lapseng, Johnny Chung, Mehmet Celebi, Norman Hsu, Peter Paul, Aaron Tonkin, Jim Levin and Sant Singh Chatwal aren't household names...yet! They will be once the GOP gets done with them. Can you say "guilty by association?" Let's face it, the Clinton's can count as friends, employees, business partners and supporters an extraordinary number of criminals, con artists and felons, and the GOP will not waste a minute reminding the electorate of that.
Of the three candidates...Clinton, Obama and McCain, Hillary has the highest negatives, so she'll be starting off with that disadvantage alone. Once America is reminded of the litany of Clinton scandals and questionable ethics does anyone really think people are going to suddenly have a more favorable view of Hillary? Once the GOP is done with Hillary, John McCain will look like a saint compared to her!
Whether anything the GOP brings up about Hillary is true or not is irrelevant. Just ask Max Cleland and John Kerry. The ammunition is there.
One of Hillary's continually changing arguments that she should be the Democratic candidate is because she has been fully "vetted." Only in the world of political insiders and junkies has she been "vetted." Only when America is exposed to and/or reminded of Hillary's ton of baggage will the real vetting begin!
