TIMES ONLINE

The first exit poll for tonight's Demoratic primnary in Pennsylvania has suggested that the election may be a very close call between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

With another hour to go until the first results are expected the poll indicated that Mrs Clinton had won the state but by a dangerously narrow margin of 52 per cent to 48 per cent...

...With Mr Obama reliant on a large African-American turnout in Philadelphia,
where half the city’s registered Democrats are black, the issue of his multi-ethnic background was raised again after a claim by Bill Clinton that the Illinois senator’s campaign “played the race card on me”.
