Matron power
I had an interesting conversation today with my new business partner; his background is with a famous brokerage firm and he told me of a woman, highly qualified, who had not been offered a position there because she was too attractive. That was his way of connecting to my story, where I'd be told that, whatever my skills, I would be a "distraction on the floor" to the other programmers of the first Unix workstations. It was a small business, not subject to regulation, so I was SOL.

As I see the assembly around HRC, I'm reminded of the organizational skills my mother shared with the other "biddies" in her retirement community who, never mind what anyone else thinks, have gotten to this point in life and know what they want.

There is an enduring quality, which I'm sure irks the young, that I find reassuring. As these youngsters age, their priorities will change too ... but only their elders have the benefit of hindsight. We haven't forgotten our lessons ... yours are yet to be learned.

However silly season ends - this has been a satisfying night. HRC has earned another contribution from me.

16. Yes, life is messy. But some of us can handle it. That's HRC's appeal
And if you don't get it ... one day, you might. If you survive so long ...

Matron power is meaningful because we persevere.

22. I don't want to get anything you're selling
Your matronly power means shit.

Btw, throwing away money does not sound intelligent for a matron. In fact, it sounds really, realy dumb.

Thank gawd she can't possibly win.

Onward to the Brokered Convention!

13. While we were eating, all 3 of us ... the Korean owner of the Japanese
restaurant stopped by. He was begging us to expand internationally.

Yes, it's hard to compare yourself to others ... and I have nothing but sympathy for all mothers. I'm young enough to still face the choice - and old enough to enjoy my biological imperatives. But for me, it was a trap I avoided ... my mother advised me to set my career first and damn, she was right.

Can't we all enjoy the victory tonight? Our opposition should take comfort in their candidate's strong showing, despite his weaknesses and if they want effective power, learn from matrons how to organize.

9. I've always thought that Hillary would make a superb matron at a girl's reformatory.
And, telling the girls it's "for their own good".

12. Russert & Brokaw said it was the Older, Uneducated, White Women that are keeping this primary going.
I admit, those demographics are interesting to ponder.

14. Yes, we clean toilets, make beds, clean up other people's messes
And damn it, we deserve respect. I may have a high glamour title now, but I've done my domestic duties.

24. Post-graduate degrees in PA went for Hillary.
By a large margin. So take your unwashed masses elitism and shove it.

Signed, an Ivy League graduate who voted for Hillary this morning.

17. You have got to be kidding, I am no kid but Obama is my candidate
I want the Iraq war to end, he will do it. I want Health Care, he has the best plan for it.
I want change in DC and the nation, he is going to take care of that as well. He has plans for the economy and how to boost it as well.

I am so tired of older people and their wiser ways, my stomach is filled with it, they have done nothing for us in decades, let a younger person in and let's see want they can do, JFK was younger, Martin was younger, Malcolm was younger, sometimes it takes a younger person to see in a different way to make shifts where otherwise they would never happen.

This is the year of the younger person and this is their election more so then ours because they are new to it, learning about it, participating for the first time, this is truly their time, let them shine, let them shine, we need them now. We need their passion, their drive for something better and even more we need their belief in a better world if they only join hands. Let them shine.

18. Why do you reference three victims of assassination? Do you realize how
that sounds? I've seen effective political action all my life; perhaps you should do more research before judging history.

I work w/young people all day. My responsibility is to supervise their judgment, which isn't fully formed in the brain until almost middle age.

Express yourself, but if you don't pay due respect to your elders, you face a sad end yourself.

23. Obama has an inferior health care plan
One that is doomed to fail, full of holes.

The sad thing is, if he's as bright as everyone claims, he knows it will fail.
