Because she's so far behind, Clinton needed 10%+.
There's a reason she needed a large win, and it is that she needs to make up a lot of ground to take the nomination.

With this 6-8% win, she did not show that she can do that. She will not make up the difference at this rate or any rate that she has previously shown.

In the meantime, old man McCain sits back and watches the Dems increase each others negatives and waste money.

Yes, Clinton, the race is over, and it's time to face that.

24. Only if you are talking about facts as they are in the real world, which isn't a metric Clinton or
the MSM recognize.

4. But it's also unlikely
Edited on Tue Apr-22-08 08:51 PM by bigwillq
that Obama will reach the magic number. I totally get your point but that's the system we have in place now, a nominee will not be declared until they hit that number. If I were running, and in Clinton's place, I probably wouldn't throw it in yet either. And yes, one can say that's not for the good of the party or it may hurt us in Nov., but as a former athlete, and competitor, you fight until you can't fight anymore.

5. But she's not going to win. All this "I'm not dead yet" stuff just
hurts everyone else.

She needs to do the right thing and bow out with some dignity.

20. Yes, Pretty easily
The last big state is his to lose. We are probably looking at him coming into the Convention 130-140 ahead with roughly 100 SDs left to declare.

2025 isn't that big of a percentage.

14. Somebody's going to reach the magic number.
The "magic number" is just half of all pledged and superdelegates, rounded up.

Once the states are done, the superdelegates will announce, and Obama will have 2025 way ahead of the convention.

when you have a broken ankle and two black eyes, and you know you can't make the field goal, and you know that new star could make it, do you still insist that YOU be the kicker, even though it will likely result in a loss for your team?

She needed to win by 65-35 to even begin to catch up to our guy.

I think we'll start to see the trickle of super D's turn into a stream tomorrow.

16. She needs an average of 30% for each primary remaining, including tonight. Unless, that is,
you can think of some alternative path to the nomination that does not involve obtaining more delegates than Barack Obama.

19. The pledged delegate game has been over for weeks.
Edited on Tue Apr-22-08 09:03 PM by tritsofme
Now candidates need to plead their case to SDs to get over 2024.

Other variables like the popular vote will be looked at, as well as pledged delegates.

27. Pledged delegates aren't the only metric that can be measured from primaries.
They tell us lots of things.

If SDs were satisfied in entirety by Obama leading in pledged delegates, then they should have brought down the gauntlet weeks ago.

Edited on Tue Apr-22-08 09:07 PM by L0oniX
She would need to get 80% in every primary from now on just to break even. That ain't gonna happen.
