Let's see if Obama can look away from the teleprompters |
|
for one single second.
. . .
No! He can't.
Jobs went away in the 1990's? Is rewriting history a good campaign tactic? Well, I'm sure the mainstream media is fine with it as long as it's rewritten against the Clintons. They'll pretend not to notice.
But for tha rest of us, nobody brought more jobs to this country than Bill Clinton.

I support Obama but i think i can understand the difficulty being a supporter of Hillary and posting on the internet where Obama has a bigger and more vocal base. I make comments all the time on the internet that i've later come to regret because i was angry but the thing is though that by doing the "try to be super rational almost Vulcan-like" tactic it helps me detach from the emotion of my prejudices so i can be more calm discussing these sorts of things. Plus it lets me fake being smarter than i actually am :)

All of this is coming from Obama and his campaign- the campaign that is ripping this party apart.

within our party... yet, that is not the case. This whole election process thus far has done more damage than most people seem to realize. It's attack attack attack. On DU all I have seen is one bully post after another from the BO supporters attacking first the Edwards supporters and then the Clinton supporters. It is APPALLING what they have been allowed to get away with here.
There are people (like myself) who feel totally exhausted and disheartened with the whole thing, and I think those feelings are on both sides.

|
Please spare me the delusions about how Obama supporters are like right-wingers we "used to" fight here at DU. That one has gone stale.
Being an asshole doesn't translate to "right-wing". Everyone's an asshole at some point. you can find evidence of that in any number of our posts here in GDP, here in this thread and in almost every thread.
Very few people who spend even a fair amount of time here leave this forum without being an asshole at least once.
Have you been paying close attention over your years here at DU?
There is not one iota of "integrity" in this statement you made: " Oh, wait!! I forgot!! His surrogates have completely alienated all Clinton supporters."
"Completely", "all"?
If you do not vote, you have no right whatsoever to be here complaining on DU in the future, despite your bit of nastiness about Obama "not needing" your vote.
Voting is a serious matter. Or do you disagree with that?

I do think she reads the NYT editorials, though, and gets a kick out of seeing a Democrat, uh, kicked.
Obama also took Edwards concern for the struggling and mocked Edwards for it. That was ugly. He laughed about Edwards feeling their pain. I wish I had the quotes, but you know what I'm referring to.

He still followed Republican economic theory and enacted trade rules that have ultimately helped Republicans destroy the American middle class. Bill Clinton also benefited greatly from the tech boom that started in the U.S.
I work in the tech industry, and I watched as most of the great jobs from the 90s disappeared by 2000 and got farmed out to cheap labor markets. Fact is, firms that specialize in outsourcing American jobs were growing BEFORE the Shrub ever started running for his selection.
Bill wasn't as bad as any of the Repubs, but so what? He was no FDR. Not even close.

55. It's incredible that the victor always gives the best speech |
|
It's been uncanny this primary season. Virtually undefeated. I know I can't identify an example that went the other way.
Tonight I thought Obama made a sharp move, departing Pennsylvania early and basing in Indiana for the speech. That should have allowed a less deflated crowd, and given Obama reason to start something, not end it, and with spark.
But I agree with Pat Buchanon that Obama looked tired tonight. Instead of the gleam in his eyes of a month of so ago, he seemed stern and almost irritated. I think that's residue of Alan Keyes in your background, and not much else. He knows damn well he's got the mathematical edge, but right now I would compare him to a tennis player who manages one match point after another, but can't put any of them away. That's frustration defined.
Also, the stump speech is overly familiar, the same thing with only minor tweaks. How many times do we need to be told it's "One America?" He needs to weave specifics in there, as Bill Clinton did so effectively.
That's still the most startling aspect of this cycle to me, comparing Bill Clinton speeches from '92 on my old VHS tapes, to Obama today. Not a fair fight.
