It's official: I'm an Obama supporter and have committed to
Edited on Wed Apr-23-08 12:18 AM by Blue_Roses
a new avatar <<<< :D

After months of sitting on the fence, going back in forth, even up till the Texas primary and caucus, I tried to be objective and see both sides. Loyalty to the Clintons kept me in her camp and progressive, positive, REAL change kept me in the Obama camp. It wasn't until a couple of days before the Texas election that I decided Obama and in part it was due to Hillary's strong tongue lashing, as she flashed that newspaper for all to see. I've never seen that side of her. It was demeaning, berating and very unpresidential. A big turnoff--but I still gave her the benefit of the doubt.

Attack after attack I still, eventually, gave her the benefit of the doubt.

Now, while I will still give her the benefit of the doubt, it will now be with large quantities of salt.

As for Barack Obama, he has shown that he IS presidential material after showing the humility and patience to withstand not only the Clinton machine but the media dump. I see more than just the big speeches. I see the real deal.

If Hillary is to become the nominee, I will vote for her in November. It will not be a vote for the candidate, but for the Democratic policies that we are trying so desperately to bring forward in this tired, battered nation. I know most of us have our favorites either from their personality, their policies, their laughs, or whatever, but in the end--November--it has to be about the Democratic policies. Not McCain's.

It was Obama's speech on race after "pastor-gate" that impressed me - and then, finally, bitter-gate and Hillary in bed with the media and GOP/GOP talking points to smear Obama - it was SO REPUBLICAN of her - that totally disgusted me.

THEN there was that attempted political lynching thinly disguised as a "debate" that Obama endured at the hands of Hillary, Snuffaluffagus and ABC - and that just capped it right there.

It's been Obama for me ever since. He's wisdom and grace under pressure. I've seen it. He's run a stellar campaign - financially and otherwise.

13. Seems reasonable.
I've not been a Hillary fan for about 2-3 years ... after supporting her for the Senate. She's been a HUGE disappointment ... to the point I can't vote for her. I've not seen very much daylight between her positionson the issues and Obama's, though. Thus, I've not been inclined to shift from being a Kucinich supporter.

This campaign, hoever, has been an eye-opener insofar as Hillary's character and ability to coordinate her own campaign. She's a clusterfuck ... a disaster. Obama has been about as steadfast as I could expect a candidate to be. While certainly not a 'fan' I can certainly see voting for him.

His ephemerals are considerable ... and not to be dismissed, imho.

17. I've never been a "fan" of any politician, but some I definitely like more than others, but
Edited on Wed Apr-23-08 01:17 AM by Blue_Roses
I'm so tired of Bush (had him as governor, so I'm REALLY tired of him) and his bullshit gang, that I find it hard not to feel passionate about someone who has new ideas--no, progressive ideas--that are realistic. I saw Barack Obama on Oprah way before he ever announced he'd run for president and I got a feeling he was just like me. His wife, Michelle, was talking about their daughter's birthday and she asked Barack to pick up the pizza. She said she would get the party favors. He told he didn't mind picking them up and she emphatically said, "NO." He asked her why, and she said, "cause little girls at a birthday party don't want a bunch of pencils and erasers in their goodie bag."

I have kids this age, so I can relate.:)

19. They seem to be a VERY likable family.
The two girls are "hug magnets" ... adorable, in the true sense. Michelle is very impressive ... superb feet-on-the-ground sensibility and very strong character. Like I say, the ephemerals are considerable - and not something to be dismissed. They're people I'd probably love to have as neighbors - more than I can say for the Clintons. (Yes, as a steadfast independent liberal, I voted for Bill both times.)

21. As a Democrat, I voted for Bill twice too
and supported him as he sipped Diet Coke out the wha-zoo during his deposition on Monica-gate. I supported him and watched him on the WH lawn speak after all was over. I was pregnant and tired too. Tired that he put us through this and tired that as a mom already, I was supporting him--again.

I swear, it's coming back to bite me in the ass.
