Poll question: What should Obama's campaign do at this point?
Edited on Wed Apr-23-08 03:42 AM by FlyingSquirrel
Personally, I think he can't really go too negative unless he has something REAL that is not the same kind of crap he's been taking. But there's plenty of real stuff Hillary's said and done that he hasn't touched. Still he has to walk a fine line, can't get down in the mud with her and still say he's representing a different kind of politics. I think he needs to do something though or he seems too weak and unwilling to do what it takes to really put the other candidate away.

I choose #2, but I wouldn't mind seeing some real dirt get leaked from somewhere that can't be linked back to the Obama campaign. I'm sure there's plenty.

1. Why should he retaliate, he's got it pretty much in the bag?
Let's see what the SDs do this week. :hi:

2. Probably shouldn't retaliate much, but he does have to show
that he can be tough when faced with adversity from an opponent.

the witch on the broom who wants to annihilate another country and start WW3?

3. If Hillary were utterly destroyed that would be fair, but
it wouldn't do Barrack any good. His whole attraction is the above it all new politics thing, change. That doesn't mean he can't get in a few jabs here and there I don't think, if he's being hit and that's clear I doubt many would grudge him hitting back, but there's a great danger of it dragging him down and costing him something he'll need to win the General.

It's a damned fine line and he's got pretty good skills so maybe he can pull it off, has to be a clear line between self defense and fighting because he likes to though. If it starts to look like he's enjoying it I'm afraid he'd be screwed.

5. Hit with the tax return
There's a lot of stuff in there that got ignored because of bittergate. He needs to stop responding to stupid attacks and stay on the offensive with his own agenda.

6. take it day by day
campaign his heart out in Indiana and NC. In NC he has a 20 pt lead. Blow hilly out of the water there. Win Indiana. Really yesterday wasn't so bad. I thought he was going to lose by at least 12 and I wouldn't have been surprised if he lost by 15-17.

8. Send someone to NC to counter Eliz Edwards on health ins. She's wrong and it like an endorsement
Bill is camping out down there.

10. He'll do fine in NC
EE's campaigning for hillary- which is really just endorsement by proxy on the part of JE- may be worth a few points, but it won't bring her close to winning it. And she's in the red.

He can't win.

Spent about a gazillion dollars and couldn't even come close. Go away already, Barry.

13. Yeah. On his way out, he might as well spend that gazillion dollars he has on hand
in IN and NC.

14. To be for change over hatred and ignorance in a fooled and backward
nation, I think the Obama campaign should stay positive overall despite the racism and fear it will continue to endure to keep with the change theme, but land a punch when there are openings.

17. Pretty much what I'm thinking.
He did close the gap quite a bit in PA despite everything thrown at him.

15. He needs to keep on keepin' on. He's got the majority of delegates,
states and popular votes and is rolling in money. One win in a "home" state doesn't affect the race all that much. He might stress the point that he doesn't plan to "obliterate" Iran.

18. Relax. Take a day off. Work on his inaugaral speech.
I think he has the nomination and election locked despite Hilly & Billy's sleaziest efforts.

20. Stay above things but elbow her
in the ribs like he just did 5 minutes ago in the press conference. He's going to go after the whole "obliterate" thing during the next two weeks I think. He won't just sit above the fray. He can't.

21. All he really needs to do is win NC by a healthy margin.
And all indications are that that will not be a problem. If he can win Indiana too, that would be excellent: it would close the door on Clinton's campaign by spurring superdelegates to go public immediately, rather than waiting for June.

A lot of Obama's appeal stems from the idea that he offers a new politics, a break from Rovian distractions. He shouldn't sully his image by stooping to Clinton's level. There's no need.

23. He's won. He should keep it positive as much as possible. Avoid debates,
why feed her free air time and let her throw mud? She can pout all she wants on her own dime...
or whatever she has left.

Better go to IN, Hillary. We aren't buying.
