Media Memo is clearly out - "Obama can't close the deal" - have heard that about 50 times so far |
|
Just last night and this morning.
Obvious MSM groupthink or effort to frame Obama as a poor salesman (loser)
Doesn't he know? ABC. Always Be Closing.

4. Doesn't that cut both ways? Apparently Hillary can't close the deal, either. |
|
If fact, she's a longer shot considering she's behind in every measure.

|
Edited on Wed Apr-23-08 05:41 AM by jefferson_dem
Oh yeah. That's the reality. The MSM aren't too keen on running with that. They love them some manufactured horse-race narrative.

7. she earned $2 million over night from new donors. |
|
she started out the night how many millions in debt. how many delegates did she get? like 11 more than him. so now she has momentum from a 10% lead. this is so sad for hillary. now they are beating up on michelle-she's so angry and elitists.

8. It's directly from Clinton's talking points. The media love this. |
|
The longer she's in, the better it is for them.
Tweety said it last night at the close of MSNBC's coverage: "This was a big victory for cable television and 24-hour news."
Remarkable honesty.

14. Actually Obama sealed the deal a long time ago with a rack of victories |
|
Now hillary can even win PA and it won't make much difference in the pledged delegate totals, since the deal was sealed already. There is no way Hillary can catch up in pledged delegates. That's because the deal has been sealed!
What we see are the flippings of a fish taken out of the water and into the boat. Some movement now, but only for awhile....

27. I am confused about one thing.... |
|
Obama has already sealed the deal on the pledged delegates. It would take a miracle for Hillary to catch up. He is also ahead in popular vote, total states won, and in every way. Since Super Tuesday he has picked up skads more super delegates than Hillary's meager few....
Every indication shows that the remaining super delegates will be more-than-less inclined to go along with the pledged delegate total, afraid of rioting in the streets if smoke filled rooms would take the candidate who had won the primaries by every measure and throw him out on his ear in favor of a distant second place also ran.
What I am confused about is why it isn't clear to you that Hillary is going against long odds here! I guess I am also confused as to why anyone would WANT our party to choose the candidate who was second place in pledged delegates, second place in popular votes, second place in total states won, and second place in the polls for than matter! What is it, you WANT us to nominate the second best when we can have the best? If you were a Republican I would understand why you would want us to nominate someone other than our best candidate. What I don't understand is the Hillary Cult, who will follow lemming-like to the sea their self absorbed cult leader.

10. There is some truth to it (and I'm an Obama supporter) |
|
Sure "it's about the delegates," but neither can win via pledged. Media mo and perception of victory is what's going to count moving forward. Obama needed to get her victory down to single digits (preferably 5 pts or less), but he couldn't do it--even while outspending her 3-1. I understand it was a dem-only primary and PA has a lot of blue hairs and down scale voters, but he needed to narrower her victory more than he did.

18. No truth- demographics are key. |
|
Hillary was going to win at least 54% against virtually anyone I'd be willing to bet. With the high elderly population, high white pop, high female pop, and low overall education level, this was never going to be a state that Obama wins over Hillary. That he was within 8 points is pretty damn good, IMO.

If North Carolina was tonight, and Pennsylvania was in 2 weeks, they'd be saying that North Carolina is a state that Obama was expected to win in because of the demographics. They wouldn't mention that just as equally, Pennsylvania was a state that Clinton was supposed to win in because of Demographics.
Apparantly, if you're black, and black people vote for you it's because they're black.
But if you're a 60 year old woman, and 60 year old women vote for you, it's because you're the better candidate, and the other guy has a problem with 60 year old women.
Face it. Certain states favor certain people, and tonight was one of those states that favored Hillary.
There's no momentum, and he can close the deal. When he wins NC big, I really doubt the media will be saying how he regained the momentum, they'll say it was an easy state for him.

13. I can hear the commentary now after an Obama NC win: |
|
No surprises here
What is surprising is that he didn't do as well with the _____________ as he was expected to.
This has to be a disappointment for Obama. Anything less than 60% has to be considered a loss.
Once again Obama hasn't sealed the deal.
Hillary did better than expected with the __________________
Obama outspent Hillary by a margin of 17 to 1
What happened to change? Is he just another politicain?
Obama's attack ad "Hillary Clinton Kitten Killer" certainly seems to have worked. (This will be about some 527 ad he had nothing to do with)
The Wright, Ayers "issues" took a big toll
He's wearing a flag pin! He's insincere!
He's wearing a flag pin! He's pandering!
What kind of an American refuses to wear a flag pin?

22. yep that's the line they want to inject into |
|
our heads--"Obama can't close the deal"--
It's the way they repeat it over and over and over.....and in concert.
They remind me of arsonists.
The TV media is so corrupt and use all these talking heads making big money to spout their propaganda. The manipulators are thrilled with the way they can inject phrases into the minds of the receptive and watch them catch on like wild fire. In addition to promoting their business agenda, it's exciting to have that much power....they just sit back and watch the fires burn, with a Cheney-like satisfied grin on their faces.

"Yep, that Obama just can't seal the deal". The onslaught from the radio sheep will start today. I'm sure someone at work will use that phrase.
Would you want Obama as your sunroom salesperson? What if he threw in 4 vinyl clad windows at no cost? But just today, you understand.

|
Sadly, "about 50 times" is probably an underestimate, unless you mean in a 10 minute period.
This is the most idiotic and transparently cynical meme I've yet to hear in the campaign. Those using it are surely not stupid enough not to realize it implies BOTH candidates are losers. They know it and don't care.
