SDs need to declare NOW
The Democratic Party is a collection of cowards. There. I've said it - and this primary contest is just another example of the cowardice they showed in giving up in 2000, in Kerry not defending himself against the swift boat attacks, in Pelosi not being willing to attempt impeachment, etc.

This Obama/Clinton nonsense is tearing the Party apart. At this point, I don't know that either one of them can beat McCain anymore - but Obama has the best chance. He doesn't need a Superdelegate Coup to take the nomination, and if it happens, Clinton loses.

At this point, I would almost like to see her run against McCain and lose just to knock her out of Presidential politics for the rest of her life, but I'd rather see Obama actually lead us into the 21st century.

Does no one realize what's at stake here? Are there so many old and hopelessly-behind-the-times and blue collar with no sense of the larger scale Hillary supporters that we're doomed to miss the second great opportunity to set America on the path of social evolution it so desperately needs to be on?

The United States has been running the same playbook since the end of World War II. Foreign expansionism, laissez-faire economic policies, and an absolute retardation of social progress. Look at how well it has served us: failing economics, debt, terrible health care coverage, foreign wars costing more blood and treasure than we really had to spare. Corporate welfare and corruption. A flagging infrastructure.

Hillary/McCain = same old playbook. Four more years of malaise.

Obama = a definitive change in the tone of American politics, and a real chance to set a new standard for the 21st century and steer the ship away from the Conservative path it's been on.

Hillary is no Democrat. She's not Progressive in the least.

Are the Democrats the party of progress and the people, or are they just the middle of the road Republicans Lite that Bill steered them into?

Dean needs to take the Superdelegates by the balls and make them declare RIGHT FUCKING NOW. It is time to END this. We ALL know that Hillary cannot win more pledged delegates than Obama. It's doubtful she'll have the popular vote - so why is this still going on?

If the rest of the superdelegates just grow a pair and declare now, one of two things happens:

1) Hillary drops out and we can rally around Obama and possibly win four years in the White House.
2) The deadlock remains, in which case it's over and we'll know now sooner than later.

Will the DNC take the reigns and make this happen, or do we have to wait another 13 days, and then another X days, and another Y days, and then it's the convention and people start backstabbing and screaming and Hillary whines about Florida and the Republicans laugh their way, united, to the White House?

THIS is why I will not officially register Democrat, because they're such disorganized, out of lock step, whining, squabbling cowards who have left the Progressive movement in the dust. No balls whatsoever, and I'm REALLY tired of it as I would like a party to vote for with a realistic chance of winning which isn't running the post World War II playbook.

The playbook sucks - but the elite like Hillary and Bill making $100 million a year get rich off it, and America seems to be too stupid to see the playbook for what it is and understand the big issues that drive it.

Jesus Christ am I glad that I'm not poor or even lower middle class. Those people are going to get massively, massively screwed in the next ten years if we stay with this playbook.

1. Why not allow one day for Hillary and her supporters to savor their hollow victory
Then tomorrow they can put an end to this nightmare.

2. One day...
Honestly, all the better to take the wind out of their sails right now. There's nothing more devastating that a serious blow right after something you thought was a victory.

4. My main concern is that with Clinton, we would lose both the House and Senate.
Having her as our nominee would bring out the R's and others who don't like her to vote for McCain and his coat tails would be long. I know we are ahead in money in the senate and house committees, but from what I see in media, it would be very tough.

6. Another low-post "if Obama isn't the winner, I'm GOING HOME" complainer jumps into the fray?
Edited on Wed Apr-23-08 09:39 AM by Tarc
Why am I not surprised?

The one thing I'm thankful for is that Obama truly is a better man than some, if not most, of his supporters; especially the DU contingent. At least he has stated on numerous occasions that he will support Clinton is she were the nominee, just as she has said of him.

A shame that the Obama supporters lack the same conviction and maturity.

11. I'm getting very disillusioned with my party
It's just like Pelosi and Reid not acting on things that should be no brainers. They take so long deciding what the political consequences are to THEM that they end up not getting the job done for the country. This super delegate situation is really ridiculous. What else to need to know to make up their minds? Either they support Obama or HRC. How is anybody undecided now?

13. Hardly
She's still losing, and will lose. End of story.

She's killing the Democratic Party in the process. I'm not worried about her winning - I'm worried about her killing the Dems for the next four years.

16. So you want this bullshit to continue into the summer?
And kill ANY chance of ANY Democratic nominee winning in November?

Is it really worth it? Just what point are we trying to prove here? That we can come up with even more creative ways to screw ourselves with every election cycle?

We need closure to this before the whole party implodes.
