I was neither really happy or really sad last night with Obama's loss in PA; could have been better, could have been worse. It keeps Hillary thinking she's in the game, but it also did nothing to bring her closer to a delegate victory.
Calling it like I saw it, I will credit Hillary with a fine speech last night which spoke directly to the people of PA and included some original (albeit sentimental) thinking. Obama's speech in Indiana was the usual inspirational stuff, the problem is it was the usual inspirational stuff.
Barack Obama came on the scene with a message and a delivery that literally moved people to tears. Politicians with oratory skills such as his come along only once or twice in a generation and I am a strong supporter. Yet last night his words seemed tired. Even a favorite song gets old if you play it enough.
Specifically, Obama needs to be less globally inspiring - and tailor make his wonderful words more to address bread and butter issues facing the people of the geographic region he is speaking to. Yes, we know Obama is a visionary; but we also need to hear more of the words from the heartland which simple says I get it.
I have every confidence Obama will prevail when this crazy long primary season finally ends. But rumor has it the rethugs will be airing an anti-Obama ad in N.C. starting in a day or so - and they will be playing the race card. That means Hillary, Bill, and the pukes are all gunning to cause an Obama collapse. We all know the GOP does not want to be running against Barack this fall.
I am advocating that even with all the amazing rhetoric and words that Obama has shared, he needs a NEW and different message to keep the ball rolling with equal enthusiasm. Think something more down to earth.
It is fun to think that somehow when a DUer pontificates, that an aid to a staffer of Obama happens to read this stuff, takes notes, and passes it up the line to the candidate. Yea right! :sarcasm:
But just for the hell of it, there ya go Obama - consider it advice from a voter that really thinks your going to make a damn good president!

1. I don't think inspiration and detail are mutually exclusive - he can |
|
mix. But, I've been saying for a long time that he needs a new speech - inspiration part - and I wondered why no one wrote one for him. Bad news - is Buchanan and Mathews were both bitching about his speeches staying the same - getting old.

2. With Clinton spending speech after speech attacking Obama, I want him.. |
|
....to mix his usual inspirational speech into a reason Clinton must not be elected.
Not just brushing off his shoulders, thats cute but it doesnt have a bite to it.
He needs to tell us why she shouldnt become President, which would help explain why he should.
If that involves bring up her many lies, or reminding people of the various scandals her husbands administration had (and do we REALLY want to back to those days?), so be it.

3. Hillary has copied Obama's speech he gave at Independence Plaza |
|
it was obvious to anyone who had heard the original speech.
There is nothing wrong with Obama's speeches, unless you are letting the pundit heads make you believe it, just by them saying it.
Hillary needs some originality, because it is clear that she has none whatsoever.
Her best speech was only that due to her pilfering from Obama. She is a fraud.

5. I was basing my "review" on what I heard last night |

I usually don't give a fuck what the media whores have to say.
I agree, Hillary is a fraud - but remember, just by being on DU, you pay a hell of a lot more attention to politics then most of America.
They don't know Hillary copied a damn thing.
The bottom line is I just want Obama to talk about the cost of gas and milk, and chill on global stuff. And to add, he may need to go more negative on Hillary - I don't like that, but he is in it to win and Hillary tactic's will only get more desperate. They are going to release every pit bull they can find to go against Obama in NC. He needs to have a damn good counter punch.

I think they are going for the divide and conquer strategy. They see the hardening in the party and want to exploit it.
I think it is the Rush strategy

I love it when he talks about all the major problems that have been gathering over the past few DECADES that Washington has done little or nothing about. THAT is what tells me HE GETS IT! Like no other candidate I can remember.

7. There have been lots of stories.. |
|
by DU'ers who are active in the Campaign, about making suggestions and having the campaign act on them. Perhaps an email to the campaign might be more effective than a post on DU?
