I'm getting sick of being told that because I'm a loyal democrat, my candidate should quit.

I will definitely vote for the nominee. So will most Clinton and Obama supporters. However because slightly more Clinton supporters than Obama supporters are going to act like immature selfish jerks and vote for McCain, I'm told that my candidate should drop out. Why are those that support the party the most being punished for it?

1. What idiots are telling you this? I haven't seen anything like that on this forum at all. NT

2. The theory goes that because more Clinton supporters will defect to McCain
than Obama supporters will defect to McCain, Clinton should be the nominee. And that sucks. That is the *worst* reason to nominate someone. It only encourages poor behavior among the camps.

Currently there is one post that I just read that made me post the OP. There are two more that I read this morning.

3. If the process is allowed to play out, there will be no defections.
If Clinton is bullied by DNC thugs to step down prematurely, there might be consequences amongst "weak" Dems and Independents. Same if Obama gets shoved to the side before the process plays out--twenty percent might "revenge vote" but I suspect that many more of those teenagers just might forget to vote at all.

If the voters vote, and the result unambigously favors Obama, the convention will likely give the prize to him and everyone will fall in line. But NOT if anyone--either Clinton or Obama--is shoved off the stage before everyone has voted,

4. But see, at this point "unambiguously" is not going to happen.

Michigan and Florida are not going to count, at least they aren't going to count as is. If they aren't counted as is, those Clinton supporters are not going to accept the results. If they are counted as is, Obama supporters are going to be pissed.

I largely agree with you though. I think a lot of people are just on edge and angry at the moment and will at least calm down enough to swallow their pride and think about the SCOTUS etc.

16. We don't "KNOW" that. We just don't. And we don't know how the voting
is going to go in the remaining contests, either. We THINK we know, but we don't KNOW, in actual fact.

After all, Romney was supposed to have an EASY victory in NH. That didn't work out too well for him...the unambigous winner was McCain, to everyone's surprise...

7. yes, if the DNC thugs continue to push Hillary out--then there Will be a problem--but
prob only a few will defect if the process plays itself.

5. After Edwards dropped out, I was one of those idiots.
I was pissed off and started to become even more so after the increased fiasco between Clinton and. Obama. Clinton obviously wasn't going to go down without a fight (and I still feel this could harm our chances in the GE) and I advocated Obama step down for the good of the party... I've since changed my mind on that one. Obama is the best we have for the party. He's definitely won me over.

6. My candidate was Kucinich. Then Edwards. Now Obama.
So it's not as though I haven't been disappointed before.

8. Do you think I'm biased?
Or do you agree with me (objectively?) that Clinton is the one who made this dirty? It seems to me like Obama was really standing on his own and avoiding the mud until she dragged him into it.

13. I actually almost entirely avoid cable news, but I did happen to flip it on today
I think it was MSNBC... they were hyping a PA exit poll that asked people if they would vote for the other Dem or McCain in November. Hillary supporters answered at a much higher percentage that they would vote McCain.

It's not surprising.

18. Well, I keep telling people that "Keeeeeeeeeith" aside, MSNBC is owned by GE.
GE is a TOP TEN Pentagon contractor.

MSNBC is not their "money maker." It's simply their propaganda arm.

Who DO you think they want to win?

They tout Obama now, to sucker in the young "disposable income" kids and the spending lefties, who help their ad revenue figures to keep the propaganda channel self-sustaining, but they'll be pushing McCain soon enough.

He'll Bring Good Wars to Life, you see.

9. Welcome to a presidential primary
There is only one winner. Many campaigns fail along the way.

it's because she has no chance of winning the nomination

11. I support Obama.
The meme going around is that Obama should quit because more Clinton supporters will defect to McCain than Obama supporters if their preferred nominee isn't chosen.

15. The person that 's winning should drop out.?
You know it's just the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. The person that's losing should have dropped out 2 months ago, then there wouldn't have been all this much infighting in the first place.

14. Just ignore them.
I find that many make outlandish statements against Obama, and when you ask them to back up what they say, you don't hear from them again until you go on another thread.
