clinton can't quit now, even though she's doomed to defeat |
|
she can only win if obama goes the way of spitzer, and winning the nomination by default is a sure-fire way to launch a losing general election campaign. so either way, she's doomed. in fact, the best positioning for this event would be for her to exit gracefully so she can be DRAFTED BACK in that unlikely event.
nevertheless, you simply don't quit after winning a primary, especially by more than a few points.
even though it wasn't enough to advance her cause, even though a winning path is ever more elusive, even though she's got no real chance left.
so be patient. if she's dropping out at all, it will be after a sound trouncing in north carolina.

1. Everyone pretty much knew she'd take PA |

and then stay in the race. I think this is going to go on until either May 6th or the 20th. By the 20th, essentially the primaries will be over (with the exception of 3).

i forget who it was, but i think sometime in the late 70s or early 80s there was a republican for whom the game was up, barring some ridiculous unlikely chain of events, so basically in hillary's (months ago) position. anyway, he won some biggish primary that was too little too late and dropped.

ted kennedy won the last few primaries, but didn't drop out until the convention.
