Is there any way you can find out if a person has donated

to a particular campaign? I'm talking about big bucks, like $2300. I've recently read on a blog http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/04/dead-actor-roy.html that Sam Waterston donated $2300 to one of the Democratic nominees. I can't tell if the blog is tongue in cheek or for real. So I was wondering if anyone could tell me of an independent source where I could find out.

BTW, I'm not supporting either candidate, but I am curious about Sam, since he was a big "cheerleader" for Unity08, the now defunct "centrist" group.

When you pick the candidate, if you are searching that way, make sure you choose the proper race (House, Senate, President) otherwise you won't get the proper results. Then use the alphabetical feature to find the person you seek.

I knew about newsmeat, and went there, but his latest contribution was dated 2004. Perhaps if I check back in July, the Obama donation will show up.

It'll take you a while to get the hang of it but the info is in there. Or you can try one of the other websites that presents their data in a more user-friendly way...google election contributions.

Edited to add: It was easy to look up. Didn't find a contribution for Obama, but Sam sent the max to AL FRANKEN!!!

But this was done in March. I think they only have listings from the first fiscal quarter. Could be he donated to Obama this month, which means it won't show up until July.
