2. He just moved to our little Town.
I see him at breakfast, occasionally.

A few weeks ago, the local butcher dragged me out into the parking lot to hear a long piece on his digeridoo (sp?). After he finished, a voice from behind me said, "Only in Marin, man".

Guess who?

17. OMG. thank you.
i'm 66 and i'm so glad that i was young during the 60s. in early '67 i separated from my first husband (who i married in 1960). it was wonderful. i lived in queens, new york and worked in greenwich village. i drove a red '66 mustang.

i listen to classic rock on my car radio and sometimes i feel like i'm transported back in time. i see myself dancing in a club. such great memories.

my only regret is that i never tried acid or mushroom.

lives in new york did enough acid for 100 people. he's also a musician.

he moved to LA 3 times but always came back to new york. the last time was because his cousin was killed in the tower on 9/11.

40. Arthur Brown trivia:
If you ever saw the Ken Russell over the top movie version of the Who's Tommy, one of the more bizarro scenes, imo, was the Arthur Brown as "the priest" in the scene featuring Eric Clapton doing "Eyesight to the Blind". Check him out at around the 3 minute mark:

49. Yep, Arthur Brown was a Pete Townshend discovery oddly enough
Recorded on Townshend's label, Track Records.
Others who recorded on Track: Thunderclap Newman ("Something in the Air")
http://youtube.com/watch?v=2pGht71KFkY

and, in the UK, an obscure left handed guitarist, Jimi Hendrix.

45. I heard them do an extended version of that tune
Edited on Wed Apr-23-08 10:03 PM by RichardRay
at a post-Woodstock concert in Rhode Island. Probably 18 or 20 minutes? NOBODY was ready for it to be over. Then they closed with Samba Pa Ti and the whole place totally mellowed out and went home.

I sure hope he plays the 'Old Hippies' Inaugural Ball.

Samba Pa Ti

(edited to add the link to Samba Pa Ti - from a much older Carlos)

53. That's what I'm talking about !!!
I can still remember the first time I heard Carlos' playing and snapping my head around saying, "Who is that??!!"

Great, great drumming from Michael Shrieve who was only 19 at the time.

And it's funny to hear some of those Greg Rolie licks that would later sneak into the Journey songs.

Thanks WillyT - you made my evening!
