How Many of the Liberal Blogs and Discussion Boards Lean Toward Obama?
Edited on Wed Apr-23-08 08:29 PM by Emit
Obviously, DU does, and IIRC, so does Kos.

Any others that people are aware of here?

Does anyone know specifically if any lean toward Hillary, other than the sites recently created by Hillary supporters who defected from liberal blogs?

I have also noticed that most of the liberal talk show hosts lean toward Obama.

And, Hillary doesn't draw the crowd sizes that Obama does. Did you notice the small venue she had for her victory speech last night? In the portion of video I caught on line, it was a small crowd in a tight area. IIRC, she also changed one of her more recent speech settings from a larger arena to a high school gym -- downsizing?

Personally, in my circle of friends and acquaintances, I know of only two people who voted for Hillary. This includes co-workers, neighbors, folks I volunteer with, family, friends, etc.

On the face of it, it appears that Obama experiences much more support than Hillary.

Obama has raised more money, draws bigger crowds, and enjoys more support from talk shows, and, sometimes, even certain teevee hosts, as evidenced in the Hillary supporters' complaints here about media bias toward Obama.

Just an observation.

5. I don't think so
There are many, many people who are not fawning over Obama but see him as the logical choice. Many of us do not expect that any of the candidates will be a panacea. I think you are fooling yourself if you think Obama enjoys that much support from the majority of liberal blogs and radio host because he's got them fooled.

7. Yeah, either that or they're tired of corruption, scandals and a general lack of accountability from
their politicians. But stay focused on the shine, it'll take you attention away from Obama getting the nomination.

29. everyone is fooled..
but you. No one can support Senator Obama because of what they have read about his policy positions. No one can read his books and get a feel for who the man is. No one can watch the town hall meetings where Senator Obama answers questions people ask him, and like what he has to say. Anyone who disagrees with you is a fool? Condemnation prior to Investigation.

27. Well, they are certainly both a long distance further to the right
than I am.

I don't consider HRC to be liberal, either. I do find her more liberal on most issues than Obama, though, which, frankly, appalls me.

How anyone can present him as liberal is beyond me, unless you buy the Orwellian media manipulation of the term.

Although, I don't find Hillary more liberal than Obama, and her DLC connections certainly don't sit well with me. I don't think many DUers present Obama as a 'liberal,' here. Although his populist message seems to appear more sincere and appeals to more people, IMO.

9. BartCop & Daily Howler are the only sites that still don't hate her mindlessly.
Just about all the other sites do -- with a passion and a vengengence that approaches demonic possession in intensity.

13. You know why don't you?
Simple equation.

When you mindlessly revere a candidate beyond all proportion, you must demonize the other candidate to balance the equation.

So, the more over the top fanatical the supporters are for Obama, the more necessary to irrationally slam HRC.

Cultists, don't you just love it?

11. I take comfort in this fact
During the race between Obama and HRC, all but one of the websites I regularly read has come out in support of Obama.

Atrios
Kos
HuffPo (most in support of Obama)
Oliver Willis
John Taplin
Jesus' General
And, of course, DU!

Those are sites that I've read, well, for the most part since at least 2004, or for as long as they've been around if newer. When the people I've turned to for thoughtful analysis and progressive ideas all support one candidate, it's a good reality check for me. (FWIW, all of my long-time liberal friends support Obama, though only 1 person I know has been with him from day 1.)

The only one I've stopped reading is Bartblog ... :puke: Too much nastiness.

And I do remain a loyal Paul Krugman reader ... I've got no beef with anything he's written about Obama's policy stances.

Edited on Thu Apr-24-08 01:31 AM by ClericJohnPreston
Lets see who gets out more genius. I live in New York City. My average week, I spend five to six nights out with my girlfriend or friends, dining at the best restaurants in the City and clubbing in Soho.

After a full night out, arriving home at 12-1 AM, I then sign in here or a host of other sites. Look at the hour I'm posting. I have a great job I love, wonderful clients and no complaints.

So much for your bullshit generalization Skippy.

Hillary has more support among older voters who don't get out of the house or go online much. That's her base.

18. definitely
Obama's support is a who's who of liberals, and the online people, and bloggers. He is their candidate. Could we have a better illustration of how weak the liberal establishment actually is? With the support of almost every influential and powerful liberal leader and organization, the primaries should have long since been over. Since Obama has become the darling of liberalism, and Clinton anathema, we are getting a better and better read on the strength of modern liberalism - it is about 10% of the population, and unlikely to grow beyond that. In addition, that group is so self-righteous and argumentative, that few are persuaded by the arguments. Almost half of the Democratic primary voters remain unpersuaded, and the Obama campaign should do much better among Democrats than with the general public. We may be seeing the high water mark of modern liberalism - "socially liberal, economically conservative" - and the last hurrah. Of course many of us will be voting Democratic in the general no matter who the candidate is, and the Republicans are as weak as they will ever be, so Obama can possibly get half of the electorate or so, as Kerry and Gore did, but no more than that. That makes it another tight race, and subject to theft.
