Poll question: ****************** STRAW POLL TIME ******************
Edited on Wed Apr-23-08 10:54 PM by FlyingSquirrel
I like lots of stars.

Seems like there are an awful lot of DU'ers here energized by Hillary's... er... 9.3% win in PA.

So let's just see how we're doin'

-----

Edit: OHMIGOD SHE WON PA BY 10%!!!!!! AND HERE COMES THE FLOOD OF SUPERDELEGATES FOR HER:

Gov. Brad Henry of Oklahoma for Obama
Rep. John Tanner of Tennessee for Clinton
DNC member Audra Ostergard of Nebraska for Obama

19. Oh yeah, that's right; caucuses are, indeed, nonexistent. Maybe they'll go away if
we ignore them long enough.

one hundred and one thousand more Texans voted for Hillary than Obama.

people voted for Hillary in the Texas primary.

100,000-plus more, in fact.

a Texas victory?

Texas consists of two parts. There is no "popular vote" primary. There was a primary and a caucus.

Hillary won the primary, and Obama won the caucus. Oh, but caucuses don't exist, so Hillary won Texas. Caucuses are evil.

You can say Hillary won Texas, but it gives the false impression that she gained ground in Texas and that it is actual momentum, when actually she fell further behind. Maybe call it a tie, even. But in terms of the math and who approached the delegate number more closely, Obama DEFINITELY won.

33. I don't need to. I did the door to door in my TX precinct to target the caucus vote.
Edited on Thu Apr-24-08 11:56 AM by kwenu
You see. Obama supporters, intelligent lot that we are, understand the RULES!!! Therefore, a large part of our focus was on supporting the precinct conventions (caucuses)that would ensure that Obama took the most Texas delegates. We succeeded wildly and Obama is the Texas Winner in delegates.

The popular vote is significant but completely secondary in a delegate race. It's nice to be the leader in both but if you have to choose, you definitely want to be the delegate leader in a delegate race, not the popular vote leader.

So congratulations to Hillary in her win of the popular vote in Texas. She and her supporters might want to take a gander at those party rules though. Maybe she thinks that she's so experienced that she don't need no stinkin rules.

"pissing themselves"?

I saw a lot of that last night. Over 10 (or fewer) delegates.

23. Yup... Jon Stewart reported the truth today.
The secretary of state website unfortunately has not proved to be quite as reliable as you'd think. Last night it had Lancaster county WAY off, like Obama had 40,000 on their site but really it was more like 27,000. CNN obviously went by the particular counties' websites and so amazingly enough it is closer to reality.

9.3% is about what it'll probably end up being. Doesn't matter either way, it's gonna be less than 10% and that's what the Obama campaign wanted. Considering what they were up against with the high senior population, the kitchen sink etc. it's pretty damn good.

This also keeps Bushler, the Iraq war, Osama Bin Laden, the economy, etc. out of the news.

32. F Hillary
There, I said it. I am going to have an awful time deciding between her and nobody. If she wins somehow, I think the people who think she is so damn great deserve to live in the bed they made with her. She is an awful Democratic candidate, but one of the greatest Republican candidates ever! Oh God, let me see a woman President before I die, Pleeeeeeeeaaasssesssssssssssssss! Let's have a female candidate who deserves it, one who doesn't throw her Party under the bus, one who actually wants to help "the people" more than she helps herself. Hillary just stinks as a Presidential candidate. STINKS.

Lotsa Hill supporters around here but apparently they'd rather take their ball and go home rather than vote in a poll?

I guess it allows them to pretend they are more numerous than they really are.

Actually I'm pretty sure the percentage hasn't changed, it's perhaps 11% of DU or less
