Screw this clown - Named Floyd Brown
Screw the Pain Of John McCain.
Screw the lush - Named George Bush.
We are tough- But we've had enough.
Our asses are sore. We're tired of your war.
You've done it before- But it won't work anymore.
The people have learned- Because they have been burned.
They were blind but now they see. They all say - Screw the GOP !!

3. Does anyone believe the people will buy Republican this time? |
|
No matter who the Democratic nominee happens to be? No doubt, they have their hardcore supporters, like the 29% that continue to support Bush, but the GOP is a divided and disenchanted Party.

(assuming Obama is the nominee) that they will lie to a pollster and say they'll vote for Obama, but come that November day alone in the voting booth, they'll vote McCain.
Part of that is due to prejudice, but a lot of it is also fear to try something new to get out of their rut. Too many of these poor whites have that sense of "learned helplessness" drummed into them. Frankly, I don't have that much faith that these people will overcome that sense in time - unless one of their own kind helps them to do it.
And if that's the case, if they still insist on voting Republikkkan, and if we don't get the POTUS come November, then I say: Fuck 'em - let their kids die in Iraq for all I care. Me, I'm gonna ensure that neither myself nor anyone in my immediate family gets caught in the political/economic/social shitstorm that is bound to come.

5. I agree that many people will not vote for a black nominee... |
|
because of prejudice or fear. But there is also fear and loathing of the present Republican Party. A chicken has a brain about this big (*) and it has the sense to get out of the rain. Just as poverty is the great equalizer, the GOP has made this entire nation more poorer in spirit and in morals.

and most of these folks do not belong to the "netroots" - in groups like DU or DailyKos. Very few of them have access to YouTube, or a computer, or a Blackberry, so that they can get alternative news and views.
Sorry for being so glum.
