Some Clinton folks say RACISM should disqualify Obama 'cause folks won't vote for him, what about... |
|
. . .sexism? After all Hillary says that discrimination against women is the most pervasive form of discrimination in the world.
Hillary needs to confront sexism. Obama needs to confront racism.
For Clinton folk to push forth the argument that Obama is unelectable because of racism is absolutely ridiculous, especially because Hillary will have to deal with sexism which could be just as challenging.
DEMOCRATS have to make a commitment that when there is a Black nominee for any office they will confront racism and win IN SPITE OF THAT!
DEMOCRATS have to make a commitment that there is female nominee for any office they will confront sexism and win SPITE OF THAT!
DEMOCRATS SHOULD NEVER EVER USE CONCERNS ABOUT SEXISM AND RACISM AS THE REASON NOT TO NOMINATE A FEMALE OR PERSON OF COLOR FOR ANY OFFICE!
I must say I'm absolutely that ANY DEMOCRAT is out there peddling the argument that Obama is unelectable because of racism that is fucking disgusting.
And for those of you who will tell me the world is cruel and I need to get over it then I must remind you that one could advance the same argument and site the existence of sexism as a reason not to nominate her, BUT WE SHOULD NEVER EVER GO THERE!

Neither is a reason not to run our candidate. If there are that many racists and sexists out there, the country is in real trouble.

4. The polls prove them wrong. |
|
He's coming out ten points ahead of Clinton as we speak, and he's also consistently outperforming McCain.
Just wait until Clinton is finally pushed out of the race and Obama can focus solely on November. He'll blow McCain's doors off!

5. It's just Clinton supporters covering their own asses for what they themselves feel.... |
|
.... By passing the buck, "SOME people won't vote for him (but of course not *me*)", they make sure that nobody gets any of the blame. It's a sort of keep-away game white folks like the play with racism. Everybody knows it, but it has enough "plausible deniability" (guess who the judge of "enough" is) on the part of "good whites", that it can be played FOREVAH! WOOT!

10. Yes and its very frustrating. . . |
|
. . .whether its Obama or Hillary we need a leader and that person needs to lead on confronting the issues of homophobia, racism, religious bigotry and sexism.

13. If the Obama campaign can't overcome the mere suggestion that he might lose on race... |
|
...well then maybe he should just stay in bed where its nice and safe.
I think this is ridiculous thing to get upset over and I'm sure Obama would think so as well. If he intends to be the nominee he knows he has to confront racism the same way Hillary knows she'll have to confront sexism.
To me, this is just politics at its worst and its best. Its a challenge issued and a challenge that I'm sure will be answered. And if you think this mild suggestion is bad, just wait until we get into the main election! Whether its with racism or sexism, things are going to get ugly -- far uglier than this.

17. in Obamaworld, even mentioning that Obama is black |
|
is considered "racism".
Race and gender are legitimate topics for discussion when it comes to electibility.
That's the real world.
