EPIC FAIL
http://clinton.senate.gov/speeches/iraq_101002.html

October 10, 2002
Floor Speech of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton
on S.J. Res. 45, A Resolution to Authorize the Use of
United States Armed Forces Against Iraq

As Delivered
...
I will take the President at his word that he will try hard to pass a UN resolution and will seek to avoid war, if at all possible.
...
And perhaps my decision is influenced by my eight years of experience on the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue in the White House watching my husband deal with serious challenges to our nation.

They knew exactly what was going on. They all knew it was a vote to go to war.

Give it up. It was not okay when they voted for it, and it certainly isn't okay now.

career. Wellstone voted "no" on the IWR, when the media, the republican party and yes, even some of his dem colleagues was pressuring him to vote yes. That could have completely sunk his reelection, but his poll numbers rose after his vote, because people respected his integrity. *cough*

20. Do you really think we're that stupid?
Give me a break. Yes, Bush is a war criminal, but Hillary and the piss poor excuses for politicians like her let this country down, and did it on purpose; they had to look strong and were hoping it would all be over in a matter of weeks; like the last one.

Stop making excuses for her. The people who actually read the briefs got it right. She didn't even bother to read it. She was just "briefed"

and Hr.Boooosh had got it right but later quietly changed his bombast to "did not prosecute the war intelligently"; And that was when I realized these people were not the real deal and I stopped supporting Hill/Billy.
When the Senate outrageously gave this power to the prez., the only place to go and pound out your anger and frustration was the keyboard into DU and I will forever be grateful for that. The meme that they were fooled is a stinking pile of shit.

44. That's a complete and utter falsehood.
Hundreds of thousands of us took to the streets to protest the blatant LIES and MYTHS used to beat the drums of war!

MANY Congresscritters saw through it. Kucinich in particular!!

It wasn't "foolishness" ... it was COWARDICE and COMPLICITY!

Just like Snipergate wasn't a "mistake" (it was an outright LIE!), Clinton's support for the illegal invasion and occupation wasn't a "mistake" ... it was 5 parts COMPLICITY and 5 parts COWARDICE.

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including Al Qaeda members, though there is apparently no evidence of his involvement in the terrible events of September 11, 2001."

40. It's a term from D&D
Or, to be more exact, AD&D. It indicates that not only have you failed a stat test but you've failed so catastropically that something awful and probably humiliating is going to happen to you. Many of the very early adopters of the internet (back when it was just geeks like me) were also gamers so they used metaphors based in gaming culture.

41. Just like her comments about the "failing insurgency" in Iraq in 2005
http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/iraq/2005-02-19-iraq-senators_x.htm

Clinton says insurgency is failing

BAGHDAD (AP) — As 55 people died in Iraq on Saturday, the holiest day on the Shiite Muslim religious calendar, Sen. Hillary Clinton said that much of Iraq was "functioning quite well" and that the rash of suicide attacks was a sign that the insurgency was failing.
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, left, and Sen. John McCain were part of a five-member congressional delegation visiting Iraq.

"The concerted effort to disrupt the elections was an abject failure. Not one polling place was shut down or overrun," Clinton told reporters inside the U.S.-protected Green Zone, a sprawling complex of sandbagged buildings surrounded by blast walls and tanks. The zone is home to the Iraqi government and the U.S. Embassy.

"The fact that you have these suicide bombers now, wreaking such hatred and violence while people pray, is to me, an indication of their failure," Clinton said.

"It's regrettable that the security needs have increased so much. On the other hand, I think you can look at the country as a whole and see that there are many parts of Iraq that are functioning quite well," Clinton said.
