Back Home in Indiana (Hillary: the Indiana Years)
Edited on Thu Apr-24-08 12:22 PM by SoCalDem
Ada Mae Cuttlesworth recalls her time as the family neighbor..all those years ago

"That Hillie ..we all called her Hillie back then... she was a pistol..

I remember helping her weed the garden in front of the modest little 2 bedroom clapboard house she lived in.. That first winter they lived there, they were so poor they didn't even have heat, so I had my son Albert chop wood for them..He also used to help pump the outhouse every year or so..

one christmas morning, I sneaked over there and left a basket of presents on the front porch.

She was a modest little girl, so you can imagine our surprise when we learned that she had shot a neighbor's beloved pet duck, back in Scranton, and that's why the family moved to Indiana. She had been running with a rough crowd and got mixed up in gun play and petty shoplifting. I heard that they went brazenly into the barber shop on Main street and stole all the combs from the blue water flask.. at gunpoint..

We started locking our door after that..and I told Albert to stay away from her."

.........................................................

Joe Don White & Betty Lou Johnson were teachers at the grade school she attended recall her antics too.

BJ: She never wanted to be a turner..only a jumper, and all the girls resented her for that. Sometimes she could only get one girl to turn the rope, so she would tie the other end to the wheelchair of a little handicapped girl, and then hunch her shoulders down so she could jump rope

JW: She'd elbow her way to the front of the line at the water fountain and then hold her hand on the drain so it would overflow..and at recess she pushed boys out of the way so she could play tether-ball first.. and dodge-ball? You NEVER wanted to be the one she was throwing the ball at.

BJ: I remember one time when we were playing kickball, and a kid called her a name..she kicked that ball so hard..little Donnie walked funny for a few days

.............................................

John Jackson remembers her as a little girl too. He ran a shoe shine business in front of the old lamar Hotel, downtown.. Little Hillary & her friend would wiz past him on their bikes, and "accidentally" knock all his cans of shoe polish off the table, and scatter them all over the sidewalk.. One time, as he was picking them up, she turned around and "accidentally" ran over his hand.. When he yelled "OUCH!"..she looked back over her shoulder and laughed (as only SHE could laugh) and said.. "Quit WHINING & get back to work"...

..........................

Juanita Jefferson owned the local restaurant and young Hillary applied for a waitress job there, but Juanita saw immediately that she was not waitress material.. She even gave her a try-out, but she kept on hurrying the customers, and telling them to move along, because she needed that table for better tippers. That didn't go over well with the regular customers..and she argued with them too.. said they needed to make up their minds RIGHT NOW.

............................................

Barbara Boudreau was one of Hillary's first bosses at the insurance company... She got the job while still in High school, but it did not work out well, since half the staff quit within a week of Hillary starting work there. She listened in to phone calls, and then called the customers back and told them that the agent who originally contacted them was not trustworthy and that SHE could get them a better deal.. She claimed that she was the ONLY one in the office who could "close the deal".. She only succeeded in pissing them off, so we had to let her go... Then she talked her dad into dropping his policies with us..

.........................................

Frances Witherspoon was Hillary's girl scout leader. She said that Hillary had leadership skills and knew how to set up a campsite, but the other girls were a bit afraid of her. once on a camp-out, she took some of the younger girls on a hike in the woods and two of them "got lost".. Took the National Guard to find those poor little girls.. Hillary claimed that she did not leave them behind on purpose..

.........................

Miss Lula Johannsen was her math teacher, and she said that Hillary often looked out the window and daydreamed in math class.. Once in an argument over a bad test grade, Hillary said. "Math?? Who even NEEDS math.. someday I'll be rich and famous and I'll PAY other people do to MY math"..

........................

3. One Christmas back in Indiana
Hillary wanted a Red Ryder pump action air rifle, but her mother had said no with the excuse "You'll shoot your eye out"

So Hillary thought that if she enlisted her grade school teacher onto her side, with her excellent essay, on the theme "What I want for Christmas" She could win over her Mother and would receive that most wished for gift on Christmas Morning. She had failed, but in the end "Santa" came through.

The above story about Hillary Clinton's childhood, First, proves she is a fighter, to get what she sets her mind too. Second, also proves she has been a gun-lover since she was knee high to a grasshopper. Third, able to make plans and organize the plan and execute a plan to it's successful end. Fourth, even in the face of defeat, she didn't give up, and was rewarded for her perseverance.

5. Okay
it wasn't Hillary Clinton's childhood, but why let facts get in the way of a good story...She could have been caught in another type of lie, like being under sniperfire in a war zone.

12. And fifth, that she's not guilty of plagiarizing someone else's anecdote because
as the perfect embodiment of the "common man," her story is our story and our stories are hers. :-)

:-) Don't be so lazy. If it's actually funny you might get a "gold medal" in the form of a DUzy.

I've seen a dozen anti-Obama folks claim they can write a satire/parody/send-up about the same stuff Hillary parodists do, but I'm still waiting.

Satire has to adhere to, or reflect the truth. Maybe that's what the hold-up is when it comes to the Obama send-ups.

Welcome to DU, for as long as that lasts. :hi: Obama's a Muslim, huh?
