Obama could pick up six delegates from Iowa on Saturday
Iowa holds their district convention on Saturday.

TheGreenPaper site states:
Saturday 26 April 2008: Democratic Party District Conventions convene in each congressional district to choose the district's delegates to the Democratic National Convention. A mandatory 15 percent threshold is required in order for a presidential contender to be allocated National Convention delegates at the district level.

Edwards is just barley above the threshold level from the county convention, meaning if he just loses a fraction of his support, he will not be viable and all 6 of his delegates would be up for grabs.

County Convention Results:
Barack Obama: 52.1%
Hillary Clinton: 31.5%
John Edwards: 16%

Delegate allocation:
Obama 23, Clinton 14, Edwards 6.

1. how could Edwards lose support?
would it be that a delegate changes his/her mind and he slips below the threshold therefor causing them all to be released?

2. He already lost half his delegates
And I remember reading that he is likely to lose most if not all of them by the next phase. He needs to achieve 15% to stay viable at each level. It's impressive that he has held onto half his delegates despite dropping out, but I don't think he is expected to emerge from the final phase with any delegates.

3. He lost half of his support at the county convention.
He went from having 30% of the delegates to just 16%. He will drop again at the district convention. The main reason is that Edwards is out of the race and without endorsing anyone, his delegates probably do not feel obligated to commit to him.

4. since he dropped out, I can't see his few pledged delegates still hanging on

he's not a real factor anymore .. a nice guy, but that's about all the "power" he has.. he's not a sitting senator..and only served one term..People like him, but no matter who wins, he won't have much say in anything the party does or does not do.

His delegates might as well align with one of the two still in the race..

5. Democracy marches on!
Sort of.

Well, not really.

But who gives a damn?

I'm sure our leaders know best. They've done such a great job protecting the Constitution and Bill of Rights, stopping the illegal and immoral occupation of Iraq, and impeaching the war criminals who have looted the country .

I'm sure a wonderful national health program is just around the corner, unless, of course, Nancy Pelosi thinks it should be taken off the table. Who knows better the evils of "socialized" medicine than our members of the House and Senate?

6. That is some good news! Now of course they could also go Clinton but the hope is there.
If he gets all 6 that cuts Clinton's gain for this month in half no?

9. Right now she is at 9 with several Philly locations yet to report
I think she is going to end up with about 8.

If he picks up 6, that is a net of 2. TWO!!! Scorched earth for 6 weeks and she would end up with TWO net delegates.
