From an Obama Supporter: Obama SHOULD Debate!
Edited on Thu Apr-24-08 02:28 PM by berni_mccoy
He definitely should engage in another debate. But this time, the debate should be between him and McCain. He should coordinate a debate with McCain since the General Election is pretty much determined at this point and Obama is the presumptive nominee. That's right, you heard me. It's over. Clinton can not catch him in delegates, popular vote or contests won. In every metric but one, Super Delegates, she is losing. The Super Delegates are timing it for North Carolina so we can end this thing on a definitive positive note. Obama will win NC by 10 or more points and the last metric, number of Super Delegates, will be in Obama's favor. Clinton will be forced to resign. Yes, Obama should agree to a debate... with McCain.

2. There have been enough debates.
And he gains nothing by playing the game over and over.

Whereas Clinton has everything to game.

Skip the debates.

5. As long as it's a REAL debate, bring it on.
I don't believe Obama should agree to any debates with McLoony, now or in October, unless it's an actual debate of the issues. Not this stupid flag pin bullshit.

Though I might make an exception with the Rev. Wright crap, because it would leave Obama with an opening to bring attention to McLoony's association with Rod "Dominionazi" Parsely, and John "more Zionist than Likud" Hagee.

10. "Flag pin bullshit?"
While I agree the flag pin issue was pretty ridiculous, the Wright and Ayers issues ARE character issues. Who he chooses to work with and be mentored by tells alot about a person. Let him answer the questions.

13. I think he'd better get used to it
Given the debased state of our media, a debate between him and McCain that concentrates on nothing but bullshit is inevitable at some point between now and November.

23. Debate McCain the anti-Vet,hates women and equal pay Candidate
John McCain is known to have a nasty temper and to drop the c-word in reference to his wife, but even I don’t believe that he hates women.

He just hates Lilly Ledbetter and Fair Pay Restoration Act of 2007.

What’s this all about, you ask? Here’s a mash-up summary from Middle Class dot Org and the CNN website:

An Alabama woman, Lilly Ledbetter, claimed that her employer, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., paid men doing similar work 15 to 40 percent more. Ledbetter said she discovered the discrepancy late in her career — too late, SCOTUS ruled, to go to court.

The Supreme Court ruled that Lilly Ledbetter was not eligible for compensation despite years of being paid far less than her male peers and even some male subordinates. According the Court, unlawful discrimination had occurred only when her employer first set the discriminatory pay rate, even though Ledbetter had no way of knowing about it until years later. Under this ruling, since Ledbetter’s employer was able to conceal the discrimination for years and she did not find out about the discrimination until it was too late to file a complaint (within 180 days of the first discriminatory paycheck, according to the Court), she had no legal recourse.

Lisa Takeuchi Cullen at Time Magazine sums up the insanity of Lilly Ledbetter’s lawsuit in a simple paragraph:

…if you don’t make a formal complaint of discriminatory pay within six months of the time your pay was decided, you don’t have a case. Never mind that most of us have no idea what our colleagues make, and certainly not within months of our hiring.

The proposed equal pay legislation, which stalled on Wednesday (while I was watching the latest episode of South Park), would have reset the 180 day clock with every paycheck. That’s a big deal because supporters of the legislation argue that each paycheck — not just your date of hire — is a discriminatory act.

John (McNasty) McCain doesn’t support the Fair Pay Restoration Act because he fears it would lead to more lawsuits. Surprise! Senator McCain is quoted as saying, “This is government playing a much, much greater role in the business of a private enterprise system.”

24. That's ridiculous
The debate(s) if they occur, will be in the fall, after the conventions.

And, unfortunately, the corporate media will probably end up running them- and hiding the issues that matter.

27. NO!!!
As is the tradition in the debates, only viable candidates are included in the debates. Clinton is no longer truly viable in any real sense. The next debate needs to be between Obama and McCain. Thus, I agree...that "Obama should agree to a debate....with McCain"
