William Ayers Killed One Less Person than Laura Bush

Michael Dutton Douglas
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Michael Dutton Douglas (November 16, 1945 – November 6, 1963) was a 17-year-old acquaintance of Laura Welch (later First Lady Laura Bush) who was killed when Welch, also 17, failed to stop at a stop sign while driving and broadsided his vehicle. Welch was not ticketed or charged in connection with the collision. According to some accounts, Douglas was a former romantic interest or ex-boyfriend of Welch. <1>

Douglas and Welch were students together at Robert E. Lee High School in Midland, Texas. Douglas has been described as an active athlete, physically attractive, and intelligent. He was nominated as the school's most popular male student while a junior, an honor typically awarded only to graduating high school seniors.

In May 2000, a two-page police report detailing the fatal crash was made public. The report revealed that on November 6, 1963, Welch was driving her Chevrolet Impala sedan with one passenger (Judy Dyke, also 17). It was a clear Wednesday night, shortly after 8 p.m., when Welch entered the intersection of State Highway 349 and Farm to Market Road 868. Welch failed to observe the intersection's stop sign and collided into Douglas' Chevrolet Corvair sedan. Welch and Dyke sustained minor injuries; Douglas was pronounced dead on arrival at Midland Memorial Hospital. Welch was not charged with any offense.

The future First Lady made a brief remark in March 2000 about the crash, "I know this as an adult, and even more as a parent, it was crushing ... for the family involved and for me as well." <2>

And

Bill Ayers
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

<snip>

According to his memoir, Ayers became radicalized at the University of Michigan where he became involved in the New Left and the Students for a Democratic Society. Ayers joined the Weatherman group in 1969, but went underground with several associates after the Greenwich Village townhouse explosion in 1970, in which three members (Ted Gold, Terry Robbins, and Diana Oughton, who was Ayers's girlfriend at the time) were killed while constructing a nail bomb. While underground, he and fellow member Bernardine Dohrn married and had two children. They were purged from the group in the mid-1970s, and turned themselves in to the authorities in 1981. All charges against him were dropped because of prosecutorial misconduct during the long search for the fugitives. They later became legal guardians to the son of former Weathermen David Gilbert and Kathy Boudin, after his parents were arrested for their part in the Brinks Robbery of 1981.<3>

7. Senator McCain must have been a pretty shitty bomber pilot if he never killed anyone.
Wasn't for lack of trying, though.

He used to scream and yell about not being allowed to bomb the Russian freighters in the Vietnamese harbors.

3. Repukes do not suffer consequences, even when they kill people. Contrast that
with Democrats (e.g., Gov. Siegelman) who suffer consequences, even when they do NOTHING.

10. You are leaving out at least one death.
Allies of Ayers killed a grad student at the U of Wisconsin when they blew up the math building in 1970. He left a wife and three kids. The bomb that blew up in the Greenwich townhouse was intended for a soldiers dance at Ft. Dix, New Jersey. Ayers and his friends were nothing but killers and cowards.

11. He himself didn't do it. There's at least 1 degree of separation.
Edited on Thu Apr-24-08 04:14 PM by IanDB1
Laura Bush, on the other hand, crushed a fellow classmate under her car after she ran a stop sign, and didn't even get a ticket.

And FWIW, Ayers at least turned himself over to the authorities.

Who, of course, botched the case so badly through prosecutorial misconduct, that he walked away a free man.

14. The weatherman group was not some anarchist group
With people running around doing what they wanted. They were a centralized group who decided what they would do around the country. Ayers knew what was going on and probably approved it or gave the orders. As far as Ayers himself all we have is his word that he didn't kill anyone. Not a credible witness in my book. What Laura Bush or some killer sitting in jail in Kansas has to do with Ayers one way or the other I don't know.

12. Allies of Laura Bush killed over 4000 US soldiers and countless Iraqi citizens.
We're not talking about allies of the people in question, we're talking about the people in question.
