Everybody Ready for Hillary to Win Guam, North Carolina, and Indiana and Retake this race???
I AM! That's right. Hillary will win Guam and Indiana and she is going to squeak by in North Carolina. The latest SUSA poll shows her down only 9 before her PA bump. That state is taylor made for Obama but people are starting to have their doubts and if he cannot win there, where can he win? Obama will lose the white vote big there, Hillary will eat a little into his black vote, and she will win there and change the face of this race. I wouldnt be surprised if Hillary ran the table and eventually took the lead in popular vote in Puerto Rico.

Go Hillary, and On to the Nomination!

YES WE WILL

YES WE WILL

YES WE WILL!

Hillary 08'!

1. probably correct, except for NC
If she wins there, it'd be the upset of the centure - most "experts" give her only a 5 percent chance to win there.

65. Explain the "fair" part. I think you mean popular vote "fair" right?
How do you account for Florida and Michigan? and caucuses, fairly. I appreciate your candor. It's helping me to understand the Hillary campaign logic. I just want to make a decision with as much fact as I can gather. Thanks.

70. What's fair? Sorry - she's already proven herself unelectable.
We can't afford a general election with a candidate who might, if we are lucky, manage to win half a dozen states in New England - and lose miserably everywhere else. She has no effective campaign organizion, has difficulty raising funds and support, and you think it is "fair" to appoint her the candidate even though she squandered having ALL of the advantages at the beginning of the campaign season. She messed her own campaign up here.

We want a Democratic president - she can't deliver. She couldn't deliver by Super Tuesday, which she promised. She still can't deliver.

162. Thanks for the info. I am wondering what, exactly
they want out of Florida and Michigan. I will give them Florida as is, even though it isn't what I'd call "fair" by any stretch of the imagination. As for Michigan, do they really expect us to sit still and have Obama get ZERO votes? They aren't really saying that are they? He wasn't on the ballot, do they seriously want to give 100% to Hillary?

None of them seems to want to tell me how they want this to play out. I fear that they are embarrassed to admit that they want something that is completely ridiculous and unfair.

do you know what they want to do about Michigan?

192. based on the HRC campaign's claim that they lead in popular votes, they want to give Obama zero
in Michigan and claim 328,000 votes for HRC.

Even they can't possibly believe that any such thing would/could happen. There isn't any legitimate argument for doing so and no superdelegate would be fooled into thinking that a popular vote count -- to the extent they were going to be influenced by that metric -- that assumed no popular support in Michigan for Obama is reflective of the real world. Its put out there as spin for the HRC campaign that desparately needs positive stories since the basic message in the media after the "big win" in PA has been that it was enough to keep the race going, but not enough to change the fact that she's got an essentially insurmountable hill to climb.

There hasn't been an honest election there in the past 8 years - they're not about to start now.

And taking PA is going to be real difficult without the Phili vote - which she won't carry if the supers overturn the delegate lead to give her the nom.

That's like a football coach deciding that points scored doesn't determine the winner--it's how
many fans showed up for each team.

You people. It's pathetic enough that Hillary throws out this dung, but when you parrot her idiocy,

A presidential contender acting like a spoiled 5 year old who insists she's won despite losing according to the rules of the game she agreed to and understood by everyone else playing. THAT is much more unbecoming in a person who seeks to be President of a nation with thousands of nuclear weapons a population of over 300 million and a politics based, at least in theory, on mature consensus building and working with others of different persuasions.

In terms of who I'd rather deal with - I will take a strait shooting foul mouthed longshoreman or trucker any day of the week over a prim and proper prima donna executive cheater any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

does not exist if there are both caucuses and primaries in an election.

It is only valid if the primaries are all caucuses or all primaries. But there are both...

Gee, wouldn't it be great if we had a system that balanced proportionally the caucuses and primaries so that we had an accurate measure of the will of the people based on state populations?

Oh, wait! We have pledged delegates!

The candidate with the most delegates will win this race, and the Supers will go with that candidate.

Popular vote is a number. It's not used to factor the winner.

Why is it that every state gets 2 US Senators hwen some states are so much bigger than others? Because the individual states are important in their own right, and the state/federal balance is a fundamental aspect of our body politic.

119. If the Nomination process was predicated on "popular vote" the you would be correct.
IT ISN'T. This is just one more way in which Hillary shows her sense of entitlement. "If none of the actual criteria set out BEFORE the process started favor me - I want you to look at this new thing that I MIGHT 'win,' regardless of the fact that a large price is paid by the states that used caucuses, and the FACT that my opponents name wasn't even on the ballot on one state." But it's "fair" because I say it's fair.

And BTW, speaking for my self in 2000 I wasn't mad because Al Gore won more votes than Bush nation wide yet Bush ended up with in the Oval office. I was angry because Florida's electoral votes were awarded based on an incomplete count. Had there been a legitimate count and Bush won Florida fair and square, those electoral college votes would have rightly been his as well as the Oval office despite the fact that Al Gore would still have won more votes nation wide. Know why I would have been able to accept defeat? Because it would have be legitimate according to the rules that were laid out going in!

It's called being an adult and having some integrity and grace. You and Hillary should look up those words.

61. Oh, I think she has a plan that has nothing to do with winning the delegates
and that is where the party will be torn apart. She had everything going for her when the campaign season started - the money, the endorsements, a husband to tag-team campaign, more name recognition. And high negatives that have only gone higher. We can't nominate a candidate who is incapable of reducing her negative image among the general public. She has had a chance to do that during this campaign, and failed, opting to do exactly what most Americans are sick of - dirty campaigning.

11. She has to win Guam by 64% to net one delegate.
She won't win NC, and IN will be another split on delegates. She cannot retake this race, realistically. She will win KY, WV and most likely PR.

MT, SD, and OR lean to Obama.

20. A few problems with your analysis
First, in every state thus far, Obama has gained ground as the day of the vote grew closer. Even in NH, Hillary held the lead in most of the pre-primary polls.

Second, you are cherry picking. You forgot to mention the fact that Montana, South Dakota, and Oregon are also rapidly approaching, and all three states have demographics and political cultures conducive to an Obama victory.

that a majority of the superdelegates remaining are DNC members.

And like Clinton did... they chose to take away Michigan and Florida's votes. Only difference is that unlike Hillary, they're going to stand by the decision and the popular vote won't be counted in MI/FL.

35. Agreed on NC, inasmuch as if he only wins by 9 it'll be very similar to HRC's 9 pt win in PA
Both states are kinda taylor made for the candidate. Obama never had a chance to win in PA and Clinton doesn't have a prayer in NC. If she can keep him under double digits, it'll be a victory for her, just like it was a victory for him keeping her under double digits in Pennsylvania.

Fun fun fun!

36. NC would be the toughest task...
Considering that 22% of registered voters are black voters and Obama has been getting over 90% of the black vote in most of the races. Hillary would have to get 65-70% of the white vote to win. Considering that NC has more Rush Limbaugh listeners than PA (just a hunch :-)), like SC, there are more people that do not care for Hillary in the South, and this would make it very difficult for her...

50. I think the time for Hillary to do her "yes we will" was sometime
back before Super Tuesday. . .she said so herself. Now why didn't she close the deal on schedule? Could it be that her negatives, even among Democrats, are so high that she cannot win a simple majority of elected delegates?

Her failure to reduce her negatives during the campaign is what has done her in. . .

she doesn't stand a chance of winning NC and she won't win the popular vote. SDs have flooded to Obama in the past 3 months and starved hilly. There is no evidence in any poll that people are starting to have doubts about Obama or that hilly has any momentum coming out of PA. He got 92% of the black vote in PA and she can't possibly eat into the black vote after her campaign's race baiting.

Get a fork. hilly's done.

and all those black SD's who have hitched their wagons to her appalling campaign will find it very difficult to go back to their districts and find the support they once had. NC is out of reach for Hillary, as I am on the ground here everyday. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Most black people I run into these days can't stand to look at any of the Clintons now. The overwhelming majority say they reflexively reach for the remote, just like when Bush comes on the teevee. Bill & Hill have trashed the goodwill they so painstakingly nurtured in the 90's. And Maya Angelou can write poems until the cows come home, it won't change a thing.

Even if she DID somehow get the popular vote, the nom is by delegates and she can't do it.

Because she already lost the delegate count -- the scenario would have to be WILD, like Obama gets under 15% in all the remaining races.

Just wonderful to see this come down to how much more racial division we can play off of. Let's see if we can tweak the Wright thing and just peal a few more votes here and there. It's so refreshing to see us finally shed any vestments we once had separating us from the Republicans. It is official we now truly have the Republocrat parties.

then they aren't really Democrats at all, are they? In fact, I would call them racists. There is no other reason why these "Democrats" wouldn't vote for a perfectly good Democratic nominee. Especially if a lot of them are likely racists, and having grown up in that area of the country, I believe a lot of them are. They aren't the true base of our party. I don't know why we would worry about them when Obama is bringing in plenty of independents and moderates in other areas.

Show me any recent poll with Hillary within 8% of Obama in NC. Not happening.

Popular vote is a non-issue right now, especially if you're talking about Puerto Rico. The contest for delegates has almost been decided. Tell me; do you think Hillary will seriously be ahead after winning NC, IN, and Guam? She needs to win the rest of the races 60/40 and then get a hefty majority of superdelegates.

202. She's not going to "squeak by" in North Carolina.
I think she's going to be steamrolled in North Carolina.

Also, she is not going to be the nominee.

228. Hi OC....
I guess I can't blame the OP for trying to build on some perceived "momentum" coming out of PA, but really, weren't we told before PA that Hillary needed a blowout? And when she won by 9.3, the media narrative somehow changed to this single digit win being great for Hillary? We all know the media has a stake in the continuation of this farce, but why are her supporters buying into it?

230. Hey there, Tarheel_Dem -- how are you, and a happy weekend in advance,
too.

Good question. I have no idea. Agree with you completely on the media. That's their gig and they are going to milk that cow for all it's worth.

Those media folks can change a political narrative at the drop of a hat.

The pro-Clinton people on a lot of the blogs are becoming strident and shrill -- both boys and girls -- and it really shrinks the rationale for her candidacy from its already-narrowed state.

I think she's toast.

And I thought Hillary's campaign was running out of money. Could you please tell your co-workers and your boss that this kind of spam is not affecting public opinion on DU or elsewhere.

211. And IF she's the nomine. . . . guess what? She LOSES
the general election. But it will accomplish two things-one, we'll never have to hear from her again and secondly, we won't have to put up with her delusinal enablers.

221. Guam? Hehehe! NC is definitely Obama by 8-10% IN is Obama by 3-5%
Either way, it's IMPOSSIBLE for Hillary to get enough delegates at this point to go past Obama. Check your handbook. The delegates are what nominate the nominee.

If you want Hillary to win, do what you can. Nobody's stopping you.

238. The Ultimate Democratic Party candidate in 2008 is: The Real Thing
April 26, 2008

SouthAmerica: The Bill Moyers interview with Rev. Wright it was very interesting.

But at the end of the day enough damage has been done to both candidates that are irreversible by November 2008.

If the Democratic Party wants to win in November 2008 then the party elders should read the following info on this forum:

Al Gore - Democratic Party candidate in 2008.

243. Barack Obama requires less than 43% of the delegates
in all races between now and May 20 to win.

That's mathematical reality. Clinton could win with 14% blowouts in every contest and Obama still wins.
