The Three MSNBC "Racially Clueless" Amigos?
Edited on Thu Apr-24-08 04:25 PM by ShortnFiery
I had to start a thread after monitoring MSNBC all afternoon. What tipped the balance is Chris Mathews using yet another "sports analogy" to SCHOOL Obama. Tweety has NO IDEA what "unspoken factors" go into being a Black man running against an older white woman.

The biggest faux pas that Matthews just made was stating words to the effect that AMERICANS (implied white guys) LOVE their Black Sports heroes. Therefore, Obama needs to tell "the people" what they want to hear, i.e., deliver.

My topic for discussion:

IMO, the THREE most "race relations" clueless MSNBC Pundits (decreasing magnitude) are:

1) Pat Buchanan;
2) Chris Mathews; and
3) Joe Scarborough

Are there any WHITE MALE pundits any more "out of touch" with the state of race relations in 2008 United States of America?

Do those D.C. political power elites realize what a "fire storm" they will create within our entire political atmosphere IF they EMPOWER HRC to STEAL the election from Barack Obama?

She gets so excited sometimes she can hardly contain herself.

15. IMO, sometimes she's too giddy, but mostly Mika is a Saint for tolerating Scarborough
I knew these type of "good ole' boys" during my time in the US Army. I couldn't spend more than five minutes in the same room as these vapid bruisers without fantasizing the "thrill" of taking a baseball bat to their head. :wow:  No, I don't like violence, just for disliking someone - but if I didn't at least fantasize this BAD FUN, I could not "remain civil" to these IMO, patriarchal and racist a**holes. Yeah, Joey the Scar's *got it all* and let's all hope it's not contagious? ;)

33. Agreed. Also add, one each, self-righteous "racially clueless" amiga = Margaret Carlson.
The big tell was her reaction to Obama's reaction to the crowd of the disgusting "set up" that was the ABC Debate. As soon as the playback of him "dusting off" his shoulders, they put the camera spot on Margaret Carlson - her facial expression was that of tortured outrage and she exclaimed, "Well that was NOT a good reaction. He should NOT do more of that."

OMG! I really - normally like Margaret Carlson but when she reacted THAT way, I swear that she would fit nicely in the Jim Crow South sitting on the Veranda and sipping on a Mint Juleps.

Lots and lots of undercurrents that the "illustrious" pundits themselves may not even realize their cover prejudices. It's very complex and sometimes disturbing.

7. Oh, that's not true. Obama's from Chicago and has worked with unemployed steel workers.
Obama's plenty tough!

You're "racially out of touch slip" just may be showing Goldie?

Why? Just IMAGINE? First Hillary? Now Barack?

HRC won the NY State Senate for Ricky Lazio, not in a small part because he "got machismo" and "bully boy" on her. Now, consider a Black man running against "Miss Hilly." Are you getting an image now? ;)

Barack Obama, unlike Rick Lazio KNOWS by the mere fact of being a younger man that he can't go on "a direct attack of HRC" lest he be perceived as a bully. Further as a Black man, he always must DEFAULT to the gracious mode.

I'm not saying that HRC hasn't had her own challenges against sexism ... but during this campaign, she's a Mighty Clinton, with The Mighty Clinton Machine behind her.

What's absolutely disgusting and intellectually dishonest is the way HRC and her surrogates attempt to EMASCULATE Obama because he chooses to "take the high road."

Someone needs to Clue in Mathews that Politics doesn't fit 100% into his lame-a** sports anologies. That you actually have to consider Gender, Race and Personalities when running a political campaign. :eyes:

Think about it? After "handshake gate", claims that man "looks down upon her" and the last, most inane CONTENTION that that mean ole' young black man "flipped Miss Hilly the bird"? Oh that last one was a big hoot! Complete with suspicions of *gangland* language done via hand gestures.

If you doubt me, just refer to "the senior Black correspondent" on The Daily Show. :-) :hi:

10. Since Pat and I are both Catholics, I truly believe that his soul is NOT all evil.
My father voiced opinions "much like" Pat B.

However, he really believes this horrible crap ... he's true to himself.

IF we took Pat B. and forced him to travel - on an African Family Living Exchange Program for, say five years in Kenya. I HONESTLY believe that Pat B. would come back from it "a changed man." That is, I just don't want to believe that he has evil in BOTTOM his soul. Maybe Purgatory for an eon or two?

Now if you wish to talk "highly intelligent" and "manipulative" - we're talking Joe Scarborough. I think he KNOWS exactly what he's doing.

8. They're Hillary's core constituency: Old, racist, white, Republicans
Andrea Mitchell is Hillary's key demo: elderly white women.

Pat is an old white man. So is Matthews.

Joe is just a GOP redneck from the South. Like Pat, he favors Hillary because he knows she's the weak Democrat to run against.

Please don't discount the fact that WE (old white gals for Obama!) can help Obama break into HRC's core constituency. :hi:

you're only as old as you feel

Let's all admit it. Hillary supporters, male or female, tend to be grumpy, constipated, irritable, angry, time-passing-them-by folks. It's a profile, and if one is that person, they're voting for Hillary or McCain, if not both.

9. I'm SO glad I'm not the only one who noticed this!
I can't stand "Spitballs" lately because of the racist tone the panel discussions
have reflected. Tweety probably thinks he's slicing and dicing the electorate the
same way they do with other demographics, without even realizing how racist some
of his comments have become. I felt sorry yesterday for E. Stephen Collins, black
talk show host -- he was laughing uncomfortably, trying to just ignore the undertone
of the statements being made.

Bet you won't see David Axelrod calling up MSNBC to complain, though (unlike the
Clinton campaign ove the "pimping out" comments), although they certainly have an
argument (IMHO).

35. I agree his snarky, arrogant, self-entitled, but
I haven't seen the bigot part, the times I've watched him.

I wouldn't say matthews is a bigot, just clueless about race as he comes from a different era and has a lot of that baggage. I'd like to see a new generation of pundits, b/c I'm sick of people who come from that era and have that baggage dominating the political discourse.

38. Carlson's bigotry is displayed in his superior, sarcastic, condescending
tone, manner and attitude toward virtually any black person he feels oh-so-qualified to discuss or analyze. It is obvious in his every word and expression that he not only is superior to certain people, but that he has every right to judge them according to his own narrow-minded, obnoxious standards.

tend to fall into that stereotype for him.

But I'm thrilled that Tucker lost his show. I don't always agree with Abrams but he does seemingly do his best to present "all sides." He's definitely an analytical type.

20. Tweety is shrilling for Hillary so bad today
He practically said every talking point I have ever heard a Hillary supporter say on his show today. He is another one on MSNBC that has gone from trying to be objective to just trying to get votes for HRC every time he opens his mouth. It is so disgusting that he lost a longtime viewer today. MSNBC must be trying to run off their audience lately. I will still watch Keith though.

I do like Rachel a lot, but I can't stand David Gregory's show that has Pat or Joe on it daily. I try to listen to Rachel's radio show instead of watching her on MSNBC. I've been a big fan of Hardball for years, but it has just been lately that Tweety turned so blatantly biased against Obama. Disgusting.
