16. Which is inconsistent, so Obama lied?
January 21, 2007

In his 1993 memoir "Dreams from My Father," Obama recounts in vivid detail his first meeting with Wright in 1985. The pastor warned the community activist that getting involved with Trinity might turn off other black clergy because of the church's radical reputation.

...

Though Wright and Obama do not often talk one-on-one often, the senator does check with his pastor before making any bold political moves.

Last fall, Obama approached Wright to broach the possibility of running for president. Wright cautioned Obama not to let politics change him, but he also encouraged Obama, win or lose.

O'Reilly, chatting with Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. on his show Wednesday night, said he was "flabbergasted" that Wright just does not "take a vacation." When O'Reilly is right, he's right.

46. 'Reporting Wright's words"
Are you really that stupid, or is it all an act?

She's not reporting anything. She's speculating that Wright's words are going to create another controversy--one which she herself is attempting to manufacture.

But, the saddest part of this whole thing is that you don't understand the difference between reporting and commenting. Step away from Fox News now--it's damaging your brain.

47. I don't really care about the article. I liked the title. The interview's the thing
The really sad part is how you missed my point by reaching to insult me. Folks here are no more wrong in discussing Wright than Moyers is in interviewing him.

And, Sweet should be allowed to have her say as well without being labeled as some cretin for merely raising the issues behind what Wright said in that interview and beyond and commenting on them. How she characterizes those words is certainly fair game for criticism. But I really don't care what she says. My mind is made up about Obama and Wright.

One person? Good job.
Shall I make a list of all the people who've been trashed by Clinton's supporters for either not supporting or criticizing Hillary?

The scales are far from balanced on this.

Because like I said... the scales are far from balanced.

However many names you could find (and I know there's more... I remember at least one or two myself)... the list of people Hillary's supporters have "thrown under the bus" would be longer. It's not something that I think is good, but it's silly for Hillary's supporters to act as if this is something that they're innocent of, or even only equally guilty of.

Or... rather... the parts worth taking seriously are very few and far between.

But when an OP starts out with "... under the bus!"... I think that's rather ironic, considering those scales I was mentioning.

I have great respect for Bill Moyers -- I COMPLETELY disagree that this

will give Wright the PERFECT platform for clearing his name, explaining
who he is. Excellent choice of venue.

Unlike the MSM weasels. I imagine it will be a thoughtful piece on a good man - devoid of gotcha.

I look forward to Mr. Moyer's interview with Reverend Jeremiah Wright.

As for Chicago newspapers, meh. I am not familiar with which ones lean left or lean right, but from what I've read, most of them have been slanted during this primary season.

45. so Moyers can bring the issue up and others can't without being scorned?
Edited on Thu Apr-24-08 07:15 PM by bigtree
that's the point of this post. Here's Moyers raising the issue, now, by giving Wright this platform, when any similar effort to even discuss the issue has been met with a response much like yours. I've said repeatedly that Obama clearly doesn't share the views of Wright, and that's all that should really matter to voters. That shouldn't preclude any discussion of Wright's statements and Obama's response to questions about those statements. That's the exact standard Hillary Clinton has been held to by Obama himself on the stump.

So, enough with the smear of something untoward by just raising the issue of Obama's association with Wright. My raising of the Moyers' interview (and other's raising of Wright's statements in the interview) is no more of a 'low road' than Moyers took in staging the interview itself.
