Rachel Maddow: "Fox News EXISTS to destroy the Democratic Party"
As quoted on Olbermann tonight. But Wolfson, Clinton, McAullife, Rendell all praise Fox. Hmmm.... strange confluence

5. The DLC also exists to destroy the Democratic party
That's why Wolfson, Clinton, McAullife, Rendell and other DLC'ers all praise FAUX.

13. They're united in their obsession with the mostly racist...
blue collar white males, aka the "Reagan Democrats"

Fox News exists because of them, and the DLC was formed to woo them back.

I, quite frankly, agree with the Hillary of old on this and think, "screw 'em".

The fight over these jackasses is driving the partisan warfare that is tearing this country apart.

19. There is no such thing as a
"Reagan Democrat." That is a MYTH. They are Republicans.

27. Do you like losing election after election?
Just curious. It seems most people here would much rather lose as long as Clinton isn't the nominee.

36. I forgot all those elections we won over the last eight years
by using me-tooism to appeal to centrists, alienate liberals and making voting an exercise in voting for what we think others will accept rather than what we really want.

29. Actually, that's not the case at all
The DLC has spent far more time and effort pointing out the need to appeal to younger, "wired" workers. They recognize that the industrial age coalitions aren't viable in this day and age, so we need to figure out a way to draw in voters who are younger, more educated, more suburban.

Janet Napolitano, Kathleen Sebelius, and Bill Richardson are all closely tied to the DLC and all are outspoken Obama supporters. The argument that the DLC is the motivating force in Hillary's camp is simply inaccurate. Her most influential insiders-Maggie Williams, James Carville, Paul Begala, Howard Wolfson, Harold Ickes-are actually from the old-line, "establishment" crowd, and really don't like the DLC policy wonks.

7. Do you feel the love for Hillary from Fox, Scaife, Rush, Coulter?
Wonder why that is? Might it have something to do with not wanting to face Barack?

Nah, they just all respect the hell out of her. And she and her supporters are more than happy to make a deal with the devil if that's what it takes.

Seems to me she already has.

16. She was spot on on that David Gregory show from what I heard on the internet stream

Buchanan and Scarborough were spewing the talking point that PA was a huge loss for Obama and he's losing with all sorts of demographic groups. She set them straight and explained that he closed the gap in PA, and his numbers have risen in all the demographic groups they mentioned. Of course ol' Joe doesn't like to be corrected by her. :)

It's called reaching across the isle and creating a bipartisan congress. That's what it's about but your damned, either your with us or against us. That's what Obama is about.

and his campaign cozying up to a repub propaganda machine like FOX news, Clinton supporters would be all over it.
It's do as I say, not as I do with them.:eyes: No wonder so many people are becoming more turned off by them.

21. It's understandable to try and reach a wider electorate
But to think that Fox will remain fair and balanced towards them is naive. If Hillary were to get the nomination Fox will turn and be just as viscious to her as they have been with Obama.

22. Love Rachel but I disagree on this one.
Fox News exists to make Rupert Murdoch even richer. And that's cool with Hillary, she and Rup are apparently best friends, he's right up there with her good friend Sciafe.

30. I'll add to that.
Fox News also exists so Murdoch can influence the way people think and he thereby influences the direction this country takes, thus influencing world events.

The ultimate reason for craving money is the acquisition of power.

23. Obama is going on Fox and I praise him for it.
There is probably no better way to reach moderates, Independents, and Repubs willing to "cross over to the other side" than Fox.

I think it's a wise move on his part.

Though it would be funny as hell to see him take down a Hannity or O'Reilly.

Edited on Fri Apr-25-08 07:29 AM by flpoljunkie
I do so enjoy seeing her stand up to Joe "bully boy" Scarborough. Rachel doesn't take any sh*t from him--unlike Mika, who seems to get more spineless every day.

We have common ground here. I have been emailing and called and left those messages that you leave on AAR and on Dr. Maddow's personal phone for her radio show asking her to take over that slot.

26. Actually, there's a second and more important reason Fox News,
Limbaugh, Coulter, Malkin, ad nauseum exist. MONEY! They make truckloads of cash off of "hate the Democrats." It's an industry all by itself. That's why the great divide between parties will never heal. It's too lucrative. The hatemongers will keep it stirred up as long as there is a buck to be made.

that is why, in addition to the names you noted, there are 100s of other half witted morons who manage to snake their way into the media ... It is a freakin cottage industry ...

Someone above had the line "conservporn" and that is about it ... Write some form of a book about "the 100 most DANGEROUS" Americans in some way, you have a built in audience that just needs this propoganda to live ...

38. Not just that...
It's why they get upset whenever the idea of "fairness" is brought back. They know that Progressive Radio beats them in a market most of the time, so they want to keep their hold on 90% of the market.

They'll undercut, malign and jeer the Dems, sure, but they're as happy to absorb us as they are to neutralize us. Why should they care much about eliminating Democrats, when Democrats have all but fallen into line?
