John Dean, on KO,
"I think he (Goldwater) would look very favorably on Clinton."

Now THERE's an endorsement.

5. He told a true and very warm story about the Clintons and Goldwater, showing their humanity.
Despite how their enemies try to paint them, both Clintons are well known as being very thoughtful and considerate friends -- available in good times and bad -- over long periods of time. They have treated many people (Bill Richardson, Robert Reich) much better than they have been treated in return.

I know hate and bitterness will cause many of you to gasp at what I just wrote, but you cannot disprove it and, if I wanted to, I COULD prove it, citing multiple sources.

Hate the Clintons if you want to. It's your conscious choice. Personally, I never saw any advantage in automatically thinking the worst about people.

Which is why I'm a liberal Democrat, right?

6. You do know that Goldwater did 180 degree turn at the end of his life when he knew the Clintons?
Pro-gay,pro rights for all. That was the Goldwater that became friendly with the Clintons.

7. Barry Goldwater?
Goldwater was always pro-gay, and pro-rights, he was more of a libertarian. he left the republican party when religion became involved in it.

9. Goldwater
was a different type of republican that we have today. There were similarities to the current breed: He was, of course, a war-monger who believed that we could resolve problems by killing those who disagreed with us. And he was never considered a deep thinker. The idea of dropping WMD on North Vietnam appealed to him.

But he also had a decent side. He was friends with President Kennedy, and was willing to break bread with politicians with very different views than his own. This was a characteristic that he had all of his career.
