Realism and 2008: How both Democratic Contenders are Electable
Edited on Fri Apr-25-08 01:11 AM by usregimechange

Yes, Obama is polling better in a greater number of states. Yes, Clinton is polling better in fewer but also larger (in terms of electoral votes) states. Obama does better out west and in the Northern Midwest while Clinton has polled better in the central Midwest.

Clinton has been vetted for longer. Obama may cause a geopolitical shift with new registered voters possibly bringing North Carolina, Colorado, Nebraska's district 1 & 2, or Virginia into play.

Clinton is a fighter but given her propensity to sacrifice displays of authenticity for strategy, I have difficulty knowing who she really is, although I suspect she has a good heart. Obama is intelligent and articulate but may be more swiftboatable.

Clinton does well among working class whites and the elderly. Obama does well with younger educated and our African American base.

The truth is that both of these candidates are electable, each with strengths and each with weaknesses. But, remember this is not 2004. The voters are in a different mood and McCain could just as easily attack the wrong country out of senility than allegiance to militarists on the right.

We are in this together and soon we will all be working together. Lets all try to focus on the real task at hand, our brothers and sisters are dying because ignorance and arrogance currently occupy the people's house.

4. This is completely off the subject but given NC's demographics, how did we lose it by 12% in 04?
I don't get it. Bush must have won 95% of the white vote in some of these counties. Either that or African Americans sat at home.
