Two Nobel Prize Winning Economists Recommend Obama |
|
Edited on Fri Apr-25-08 09:17 AM by FLDem5
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/4/25/84227/0290/242/503167MSNBC has two Nobel Prize economists on right now. They were asked which of the three - Obama, Clinton or McCain - would be best for the economy, and both replied Obama. Joseph Stiglitz, who was connected to the Clinton presidency and a 2001 prize winner, said that Obama's speech 3 weeks ago on the economy was brilliant. He also said that the deregulation of the markets during Clinton's presidency was a mistake and the markets need to be re-regulated.
Edmund Phelps, 2006 prize winner, agreed. We need a new way of looking at the economy and Obama is the one that can do that. We do not need the thinking of the past. What great endorsements there! Here is Obama's speech on the economy. Here is the video of Stiglitz and Phelps from CNBC

4. He should highlight this. |
|
Why he is perceived to be *weak* on the economy, while Hillary is trusted, is beyond me.
Um, look at the way they've run their campaigns.
In any case, if Obama can better demonstrate his economic strength, he CAN win over many of these "blue collar whites". I still have to believe that their economic survival is more important to them than their prejudices.

6. By looking at the MP/UB equation vs the SC/GR anomalies they reach a conclusion |
|
MP = Mark Penn, UB = unpaid bills of Clinton vs
SC= successful financial campaign of Obama GR = grassroots support for Obama
Great endorsement for Obama!

17. Stiglitz is a great catch for Obama |
|
He was part of the whole "free trade" and globalization infrastructure, who realized how crappy it was being done, and has proposed more benevolent and effective alternatives.

23. The Obama campaign needs to incorporate this AND the Financial Times endorsement |
|
into their upcoming stump speeches.
Maybe he should throw ol' Hill a debate or two in Oregon...as long as they get FAIR moderation, not a couple of corporate/media Hill Shills.

The man is an economic titan who came in from the cold of neoliberal Chicago school market ideology. He's the rare bird who'll tell the truth for truth's sake.

Why people think he's such a liberal is beyond me. Sure, he was against the war, but so was Pat Buchanan.
