So, any comments from Wes Clark on Clinton's nuke Iran belligerency?
Given that he has been working hard to stop the Bushies from attacking Iran this year, why would he still be supporting Clinton at this point?

1. I wonder if you even know what she said?
You are again twisting and distorting her words.

Good god.

12. But
OK then, but what good is any kind of deterrence scenario if those you wish deterred don't think you'll actually carry out the action? She may not have pledged in so many words to nuke Iran, but throwing empty, idle threats around is not my idea of good governance or diplomacy both of which we are in dire need of at this time.

3. Right Here:
http://www.texasforclark.com/printready/transcript_080423.htm

"Joe Scarborough: General, let me ask you a policy question. Hillary Clinton in the ABC debate last week talked about extending the nuclear umbrella of protection to Israel, possibly Saudi Arabia, U.A.E., a lot of other Gulf states. Does that concern you?

GENERAL WESLEY CLARK: Well, I think that this is- could be part of a, a new initiative that's been long-sought in the Gulf, to create a security architecture for those states, and it, it, it's not going to be a unilateral declaration. It's going to be preceded by dialog and discussion. Hillary has said she wants to talk to even the nations that oppose us in there. What we have to establish is a new way of doing business in that region in which force isn't the arbiter. We've got to get nations talking to each other, working with each other, solving disputes through peaceful arbitration. We know these mechanisms. We used them in our, in our 40-year challenge with the Soviet Union. They kept us from war. And I think that Hillary is taking the first steps to explain a broader approach to a strategic architecture in the Gulf."

5. Oh, come on Wes....
His language is indicative of a PR job.

"Well, I think that this is- could be part of a, a new initiative..."

Yeah, he's never heard of this, and he's willing to sacrifice his better judgement to cover her tracks. He's better than this.

If McCain was talking about nuking Iran you could be sure Clark would be giving him hell for it.

11. I Read The Transcripts
Video isn't working for me now. I do not see where she says "This is what I want" (nuking/obliterating Iran. I am not sure what I'd like to see done if Iran nuked Israel, but we would have to respond in some way, don't you think? It looks like Hillary is talking about a response, not an initiation of nuking anyone.

13. And why would she be saber rattling, uh, discussing a RESPONSE
against a country which has NO NUKES with which to initiate?

Q: How would you respond to Iran making a nuclear strike on Israel?

A: That's a bullshit question - Iran has no nukes. And I intend to initiate a full and fruitful dialoge with Iran AND Israel, and other concerned parties in the middle east to ensure that the never do develop a nuclear capacity.

(Is that so difficult?)

22. I Don't Know
And Wes Clark advocates a "full and fruitful" dialogue with Countries in the region as well. I can't imagine he would stick with someone who felt differently.

19. Our response to the situation is already obvious
Edited on Fri Apr-25-08 10:25 AM by high density
The deterrent is already there. So the reasons behind why Hillary vocalized these things is a big question. What she did is like my boss coming into my office out of the blue and yelling at me, "If you fuck up, you're fired!" What good does that do? A lot of stuff goes without saying, and the fact that we could "obliterate" Iran with nukes is one of those things. I find it is insane for any Democrat to be raising the thoughts of nuclear war in any discussion.

18. Clarkies have had to bend themselves into pretzels.....
to continue to follow the General into Hillary's setting sun of a campaign. So much of her campaign is the opposite of the "draft Clark" campaign of 2004. Makes me sad to go to his blog. :(

He's a friend of the Clintons so I understand what he's doing. At the same time I am anxious to see him back to working for Democrats in general instead of HRC.
