Obama to unveil "massive" 50-state voter registration drive today
Obama plans major drive to register voters

Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign is planning to unveil a "massive" voter registration drive, one that will reach all 50 states and seeks to boost confidence in him as a potential general election candidate.

A senior campaign official is expected to provide details about the effort in a conference call Friday.

But the candidate himself — or his speechwriters — apparently slipped up and included a reference to the effort in an address to a union group Thursday in Chicago.

"That's why I'm so proud that today our campaign announced a massive volunteer-led voter registration drive in all 50 states to help ensure every single eligible voter takes part in this election so we can take back Washington for the American people," Obama said at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place...

Look for eye-popping goals and game-changing results...Bill Clinton himself once benefited from a similar, earlier grass roots effort led by Obama:

2. With the power of the Internet in 2008 the effort ought to be even better!
Young voters can be reached and asked to organize on Myspace or Facebook or Youtube. Communities can use the internet to help their efforts and organize better!

This get out the vote can mean victory in November so it is VERY important that people take it seriously!

4. It's a good idea, for Obama to do something like this
Every vote counts and we have seen past elections are won or lost on very small margins (thanks to the electoral college)

10. Yep we're doing this in Texas
We're not stopping before Denver and we're not stopping in November. In order to win back this country you have to keep organizing year round.

Everybody that can be a deputy voter registrar in your state should be one. Sign up and let's get to work!

This story is very accurate. In my Obama for America group, we've already started on this project, and we're continuing to phone bank for the IN and NC primaries. This is why I support Senator Obama for the Presidency.

I'm with a group of law students currently organizing with undergraduate students in my state to do the following (in a red state) --push voter registration drives by no later than August of this year, organize fundraisers (and campaign rallies) in the most populous areas that tend to vote liberal/Democratic, increase voter awareness in rural districts, and organize campaign canvassing and phone banks.

50-State Strategy! We're looking to register 20,000.

14. Woo Hoo! We did this in Philly! Y'all are going to have FUN!
There is nothing more satisfying than bringing people into Democracy.

Be careful though, it can be addictive. You'll start to find yourself instinctively wondering how many people you can register at every place you pass by.

Good luck! :hi:

15. Obama is putting Deans' fifty state campaign ideas into action
meanwhile if Hillary's the nominee she will run the usual Democratic put all their cards on Ohio and/or Florida race and come up empty handed in the end.

19. I think it's obvious Obama is moving on to win this in November and
Clinton is stuck in reverse in Florida and Michigan. The organizational skills of Obama alone tells why he is winning so much! :hi:
