29. True, some vote for the better candidate |
|
and all of my women friends are voting for Clinton.
They don't trust the current top-tier of male Dem leadership to do the hard work of getting out of Iraq, fixing the economy and getting health care reform. We've seen them waffle and compromise too often, backing policies that hurt women and all Americans.

Young women can fill middle and lower rungs with ease. It's when there's real power involved that the boys club closes ranks. "If only she were perfect..."

22. My mom is also for Obama and she turns fifty this year. |

She's the toughest person I know. She is a vice president in her company. Her boss, also an Obama supporter, knows first hand about glass ceilings. She sued her prior employer for sexual discrimination and is now the owner of her own company.

12. I'm a real feminist, over 40 years old, working professional woman |
|
and I support Obama because he is awesome and more importantly, he has the BEST CHANCE TO WIN THE GE. I want a Democratic president.
Also, Hillary Clinton makes women look bad. She reinforces those bad stereotypes. She is successful because of her husband, she cries in public, she complains about everything, she didn't divorce her husband, etc. etc.. Most of us women know that you have to be tougher than and work harder than men to get ahead. We get that. We don't think that she does.

woman as well, and I have the same problems with her - the crying in public because she wants to be president really disturbs me. I didn't see her campaign ad about not being able to stand the heat in the kitchen, but anyone who cries in public because she wants to be president is the one who can't stand the heat in the kitchen. I also have a pretty negative reaction to her ready on day one thing. I think it is obvious she isn't ready - she wasn't even prepared for her own campaign. The fact that her husband was president in itself doesn't bother me, but it does bother me that she is completely dependent upon her husband to be in the position she is in now. I really can't make judgments about people's motivations for staying married, but it is a certainty that she wouldn't even be in this race if she had divorced WJC.

23. It is not the crying itself |
|
but it seemed to me she was crying because she wants to be president, and she is afraid she will lose. If she had cried out of empathy for another person's situation that would have been different to me, but as I saw it she was crying because she's not getting her way. This to me is an issue of character and maturity not a macho thing.

27. I am reasonably well off . . . |
|
I come from a working class SW PA family - my father (a child of immigrants who came to the US with NOTHING) starting in the mill several years before he graduated from high school. It was still possible for my father's generation to get ahead on a working class salary, to support their kids and to give them an education. My parents worked hard and sacrificed a lot so that their children could do a little better than they did, and we (their children) are all better off economically than my parents were. Sadly, it seems that this is not possible for the working class anymore, but that doesn't mean the working class doesn't want this possibility. I support the "American Dream," and Barack Obama.

The campaign is all about HER. The presidency is all about HER. Crying is a natural human reaction. Every emotional outburst that she has in front of a tv camera is calculated to advance HER interests - not the American women.

All of them want a female for president. All of them.
Just not Hillary.
