John McCain Officially Most Absent Member of the Senate
MoJo has written before about the fact that John McCain has more or less abdicated all of his responsibilities in the Senate while running for president. The man almost never votes anymore: he once went five consecutive weeks without voting. Now we learn that he's the Senate's top absentee, passing Democratic Senator Tim Johnson of North Dakota, who suffered a brain hemorrhage in December 2006 and was unable to return to the Senate until last fall, in terms of votes missed. I guess it takes time to suggest doing nothing about America's economic crisis.

2. Ohhhh, my eyes are burning
On Wednesday, McCain failed to even show up for a vote to bring the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act to the floor for a Senate vote.
His reaction to discrimination in pay for women? He says the gap between the pay of women and men in this country isn't due to discrimination. Women just need more "education and training" to earn as much as men.

I want his balls on a silver... NEVERMIND. :puke:

5. Now THIS is what we should be talking about.
I'd love to know what McCain is doing in his time away from the Senate. Who is he meeting with? Is it his health?

ALSO READ:
Facing the prospect of competing against a Democrat who is on track to shatter every fundraising record — and confronted by his own inability to rake in large bundles of cash — McCain and his key advisers have largely been forced into devising a three-pronged strategy that they hope can turn their general election weaknesses into strengths.

McCain will lean heavily on the well-funded Republican National Committee. He will merge key functions of his campaign hierarchy with the RNC while also relying on an unconventional structure of 10 regional campaign mangers.

And finally — and perhaps most importantly — McCain will rely on free media to an unprecedented degree to get out his message in a fashion that aims to not only minimize his financial disadvantage but also drive a triangulated contrast among himself, the Democratic nominee and President Bush.
