Poll question: Poll for Obama supporters
Edited on Fri Apr-25-08 01:05 PM by OzarkDem
How did you vote in the 2000 Presidential General Election? (not the primary, but the GE)

1. Gore. My first presidential election. And I voted in Florida.
How the hell I'm still interested in politics is beyond me. :P

3. Other. I voted for Harry Brown - libertarian.
I thought I was sending a message and that there was no risk -- I thought Gore would win no problem.

I've learned my lesson!

20. And will you forgive me for voting for Brown?
:)

I swear it was a lesson well learned.

4. Gore in 2000. Dean in 2004. Obama in 2008.
Yeah I voted for Kerry in the 2004 general too. For all the good it did :(

8. Aha, proof that Obama supporters aren't true Dems:
three didn't vote for Gore in 2000 simply because they were too young!

How ageist, to blame their failure to vote on their ages!

;-)

9. I'm curious what the purpose of this poll is? What are you trying
Edited on Fri Apr-25-08 01:11 PM by ladywnch
to determine/prove?

on edit: also, by the time our state got around to voting, his nomination was pretty much a done deal and I believe he was the only dem left.

13. Curious about Obama supporters bashing Dem policies
for one thing.

There's a disturbing tendency by some Obama supporters to reject all the policy successes of Dems in the 90's. By that, I mean more than the Clinton accomplishments, but also those Dems in Congress who collaborated in shaping an incredibly successful set of economic, human services and foreign policy reforms.

21. I am an Obama supporter who seriously liked much of what
the 90's brought and am thankful to Bill who remains (despite the bitter primary now and the fact that I don't support Hillary), my favorite president of my lifetime (admitedly, the only others were regan, bush, clinton, bush). I don't think Clinton bashing is a new phenomenon on DU, there have always seemed to be the "I love Bill" and "Bill was a corporate whore" ends of the liking Clinton spectrum.

btw, I will support the nominee, whoever that ends up being. I've gotten over much worse disappointments in my life than one Democrat who I really want to win vs. a Democrat who I think will be better than a republican any day

14. That we're a bunch of Republican voters who would dare steal Hillary's thunder.
Ironically, who are the "Reagan Democrats" supporting?

Well, there are indeed such things as "Obama Republicans". I won't deny it. We can convert them.

I don't trust Hillary supporters doing polls of Obama supporters.

10. I voted for Gore...
he won my state (WI). The only republican I have ever voted for was in a local D.A. race, and then only because I knew her and she declared herself a Republican because they had more $ to throw behind a candidate, she lost anyway, so it is a moot point. I vaguely recall being tempted to vote for the Rev. Bud Green...thank Goddess I wasn't old enough to vote yet;)

12. Well, I was only 14 years old at the time, lol..
but I would've so voted for Gore! :) I think he'd have made an even better president than Clinton...a part of me wants to see him run again sometime, just to reclaim what was stolen from him by the Supreme Court. But I totally understand that he's burnt out on politics. Who could blame him after THAT? *sighs*

Gore is a good man.

He and Clinton were a great team. Here's a little history for you

23. Here's A Little History For You...
Once Close to Clinton, Gore Keeps a Distance

snip-

"One Democratic fund-raiser who knows both men said, ''It's worse than you think, worse than it was last year.'' Even then, things weren't so hot. On the day Mr. Gore formally declared his candidacy in June 1999, ABC News broadcast an interview with the vice president in which Mr. Gore repeatedly distanced himself from the president, voicing disappointment over Mr. Clinton's behavior with Monica S. Lewinsky, the White House intern with whom he had an affair."

And I've missed some local things... but never the big ones.

22. Got proof?
that Clinton supporters are not Democrats?

I'd say the opposite. Who spends the most time bashing the Dem party's past policies and leaders?
