Hillary evokes the same emotion in me as Bush. Disgust. |
|
Edited on Fri Apr-25-08 02:24 PM by sparosnare
I can't even stand to see her or hear her on the TV lest I start shouting obscenities at it, just like I do when Bush appears. I wasn't that way at the beginning of this race; if anything I was indifferent to her; because I did have some respect for her and loyalty to the Democratic party.
That has now changed.
Hillary's actions over the past couple of months have proven she isn't much different than Bush; rules be damned and narcissism to the hilt. She also shares another similarity with him I was thinking about last night - NEPOTISM. Bush became president not through his accomplishments but because of who he was -his name. Hillary is cut from the same cloth - nothing she's done independent of Bill has been noteworthy enough to warrant her status in politics. She is where she is because of the Clinton name.
This country needs to take out the garbage - the Bushes and the Clintons - before we can even begin to heal and rebuild.

22. A large part of the disgust can be explained by the psychology of supporting a candidate. |
|
If you passionately support someone, anyone who says anything negative about that person automatically fills you with a certain amount of disgust. You can compare it with the mother who doesn't want to hear anything bad about their children, even if they broke the neighbor's window.
Then again, some part of the disgust may be justified. That can only be determined by an independent outsider.
As an independent outsider (I am from Holland) I can say that Clinton's campaign has been much more vile and less honest than Obama's campaign. The explanation for that lies in the fact that Clinton, as a woman, must take much harsher stances than a man to be taken seriously. Of course you could argue whether or not that justifies talking about "obliterating" entire countries, but the fact remains that in my opinion this tone is the only way she has any chance of winning the election or making sure she leaves the race with her head held high.
I predict that she will lose North Carolina and Indiana and afterward will bow out of the race. And she will lose because of the simple fact that she has never closed a gap in these primaries, and that is what she needs to do to win.

23. I understand the psychology component - |
|
Edited on Fri Apr-25-08 02:57 PM by sparosnare
but it doesn't explain why I feel the way I do about Bush. He was Governor of my state and proved himself to be a fake then; I always saw through his sham. Hillary's campaign operates the same way his did.
Your statement about a woman needing to be harsher to be taken seriously; I disagree. I am a successful woman and have never had to resort to such tactics to get ahead. I've done it on my merit.
Thanks for your take on the race - good to hear an independent voice. :hi:

|
Edited on Fri Apr-25-08 03:11 PM by zam
And I think a lot of women DO feel that they have to be tougher than tough to get a certain job. Maybe the feeling they have is unjustified. Maybe if Clinton would have run a hopeful, nice campaign, she would have won. Who knows ? But I think not.

|
I wonder what your source? If it is the media, then you are sorely misinformed. Actually, it is Obama's campaign that has been the most negative. Unfortunately, the media is covering for him as he and his surrogates attack relentlessly, even using shouts of "Racism!" to win.
It is a shame that someone from a distance cannot see the reality of what is going on.
Regarding the thread: get a f"in life. You want disgust? Look at this board for awhile. It is so filled with hate and lies and ugliness. Perhaps you need to step away and get some perspective.

What else could it be ? I am not going to fly to the USA to attend rallies.
And the distortion in vision which occurs in Obama supporters is clearly also evident in Clinton supporters.
Please take a step back once in a while and try to see things from someone elses perspective.
You shouldn't confuse the Obama campaign with his supporters on this website. His campaign has never complained about racism. Or maybe you could provide me a link ?

It's more sadness. I seriously thought that she would be the nominee by this point. I respect her intelligence greatly. I think she has worked really hard on a lot of things.
But I think her campaign has been dismal. Coming out of the gate, she made a series of fatal blunders, which you wouldn't expect from someone with her background and experience. I find that amazing. The biggest was to have no real program for beyond Super Tuesday -- or so it appears.
She and her advisers also totally misread Obama's appeal to voters and, from what I see here and elsewhere, still do. They don't know what they're fighting against, so they flail, and that flailing makes things worse. They tell themselves all sorts of loopy things about who is supporting Obama and why -- and then they go out and say and do things that drive more people into the Obama camp.
Her advisers seem to have given her spectacularly dismal advice. One example, among many, is the forced laugh -- some call it a cackle -- which she uses to deflect tough questions. That's the only time she uses it and the laugh is obviously forced, which is why it has a hard edge to it. I get the impression that someone told her to use laughter to deflect a tough question. That can work -- but only in very limited circumstances. You have to be very careful about using it, and you have to pull it off. She doesn't do it very well/ She has overused it, and not only has it lost its effectiveness, it's become a point of ridicule. Bad advice.
And you have to look at the people who have endorsed Obama. I don't base my vote based on someone's endorsement, but some of the brightest and best have planted their flag in the Obama camp. These are the very people I would have hoped to see in a Clinton administration. That concerns me.

47. Yep and she lists "first lady" as her political experience |
|
reading the voter's pamphlet. Of course she's already had eight years in the white house. I have always had a problem with the basic fairness of her candidacy. She was literally in the White House, having imput of policy. Not a problem then-and now-many of us mainly loved Bill Clinton and the elephant in the room-that hasn't been mentioned because WE-Democrats don't mind-but will be it mentioned by the other side if she gets the nom that:
Bill Clinton gets ANOTHER four or eight years in the White House. It's just a fact. Are you telling me that he will have no impact? That he won't be a co-president? Well that's actually not so bad for us.
BUT it's defeating the meaning of the amendment that allows only eight years in that office. Bush Jr. did it in a way-but he was actually in many ways different than Daddy-much worse-and Daddy wasn't sleeping in the White House all these years, much less whispering to him what to do.
And here's the kicker-what the hell if-McCain is president or some other horrible Republicon "wins" his eight years and he has an ambitious, wife that wants her eight years? Can you imagine 16 years of the McCains in the White House? Is this America? Is this the precedent we want?
Is this the great myth-anyone can grow up to be president-oh hardee har har-as long as you marry one or are related to one. It's just wrong.
